As the oldest hotel/parador, it is very grand and atmospheric. It is expensive but worth it for the experience. The location is exceptional. We did half board to be able to eat in the fancy restaurant at night, and there were plenty of excellent dishes. Breakfast is in a more rapid environment.
If you come by car, you have to drive carefully into the main square and stop outside the hotel entrance. Tell Reception and they come to get your luggage and then they drive your car to their parking.

Two day's is enough to see this City and the Cathedral. The Cathedral is free, but and you must pay for the museum and other sights within the complex. Not expensive. Lots of inexpensive restaurants near the Cathedral. Family run and very reasonable. Some very nice parks nearby. Plenty of shops. Very nice city to visit. very helpful people with locations, directions, etc.

Santiago de Compostela is a place That holds many enchantments. The cathedral is the central focus point of Santiago but they have a lot of the walking trails that you can go to and have some wonderful views of the two rivers, Sar and Sarella. It has also other churches that have much history and much architectural beauty as well. A lot of shopping options for those who want fashions or maybe just window shopping. The eateries are very good. There’s many restaurants with great options for food and different tastes of Spanish cuisine.

We did a round trip starting in Madrid, further to Portugal and ended in Galicia.
We could not have done better.
Santiago de Compostela is a perfect starting point to explore Galicia and we greatly enjoyed staying there.
Please note, that Santiago is the target of many pilgrims seeking spiritual inspiration.
We visited Santiago in December - where only a few tourists and pilgrims were seen.

It is a great way to test your resilience, endurance.
It is a great way to test your resilience, endurance. Discovered lots of various scenaries, cultural differences with my own. Imporved my Spanish. Pilgrims are usually very kind and helpful.
I did not like the number of pilgrims, too many doing just the last 100km and forcing us to book too long in advance to ensure we have space in albergues.
In Galicia expect rain!
Great life experience

The hotel is nicely located between the train station and the historical center of Santiago. It's also strategically located nearby some places where excursions start from (e.g., Praza de Galicia). It also has few nice bars and bakeries in the surroundings (more affordable than in the city center). The staff was very friendly and helpful all the time. We found the room quite spacious and comfortable, with enough place to open the suitcases. The bathroom was big and nicely furnished (even with a convenient bidet).
This was a nicely maintained facility with helpful staff and up-to-date, comfortable accommodations. The location was diagonally across the road from a stairway that led directly into old quarter streets and a short (and twisty) walk to the cathedral. We had a car and were able to park it at a public facility a short walk from the location. There was regular traffic on the street, but the neighborhood was quiet and free of the usual late-night loudness of Spain's infamous nightlife.
The place was larger than I had expected. There were many rooms hidden in this building. One wouldn't have guessed that there was a mini hotel behind the door and lobby. The concierge was very helpful. The restaurant across the way is excellent. Have the coffee flan. (But serves beginning at 9pm,) and there is a handy pharmacy in the same plaza. The place is a 2 mile/ 4km from Santiago. Most people would have continued on to Santiago, but I needed a stop here.
The apartment was fantastic. So quiet and close to the Cathedral. There was a Michelin restaurant two doors up and lots of other bars and restaurants close by. It was so great to have a full size washing machine that also was a clothes dryer. The apartment opened up to a lovely garden out the back and it was our most comfortable stay in Spain. Vanessa, our host, immediately responded to all our questions and requests. She was brilliant.
Fabulous location right in the main plaza opposite the cathedral. Beautiful old building completely renovated and the best staff ever. Sandra at reception was amazing she went out of her way to make our stay memorable for all the right reasons. I have been to Santiago de Compostela and stayed in many places including the Parador and San Francisco but the room at the Obradoiro was the best. Thank you Sandra for a wonderful stay.
Exceptionally well located hotel, right in the middle of everything but on a very quiet little street. Great rooms with super comfy beds and powerful shower.
Some rooms are arranged like a little flat so perfect for family groups if you ask for them.
Staff were lovely and breakfast was good.
Santiago is a wonderful place. Plenty brollies to borrow at the hotel because when it rains it REALLY rains!!
Very nice private, four room small hotel. Nice, very clean room with private bath, shared kitchenette and lounge area. Maria personally received me and managed the daily cleaning etc. I found the facilities very nice, excellent value and Marie and Jose charming and helpful hosts. I was there four nights and the location was excellent for all old town Santiago attractions.
Great location in the middle of the city centre. BUT NO NOISE, since the windows have a lot of insulation. There's air conditioning (which is not as common as you would think in Spain), very helpful staff (even if most contact is virtual), there is even luggage storage.
Fantastic rooms and very good quality/price ratio.
the Parador de Reyes Catolicos is more of a museum than a hotel per se. Being Santiago de Compostela a historical site, the Parador is the best pic, for it’s prt of the city’s history. It’s location is amazing for its proximity to the cathedral, the museum, the medieval city centre, the old municipal market (a must visit!).
As a solo female I appreciated the safety of the pension. I liked that the doors were locked at 5:00 pm except to residents. Concierge was very helpful and place was super clean. I’d read reviews that the showers were small. That’s so not true; I’ve seen hotels in Spain with really small showers!
This is a reasonably modern hotel with all the must have facilities and amenities of old school hotels. For the money this is 1 of the best hotels we've been in in Spain. It suited a couple of Pilgrims just in off the trail after walking from Saint John.
I go every year to Monte do Gozo for disc golf tournaments and this year I decided to stay there because it is just at the course. The location is perfect and the cafeteria makes it the best location in Spain to play disc golf.
It is a spotless lodging with amiable staff. It is a very central hotel near the main Church of Santiago de Compostela. We fell in love with the area, with many places to eat and drink. Just a few steps away from the Alameda.
Great location, right in the city center of Santiago. The cathedral is just 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Very spacious rooms, clean, and with sort of balcony.
