Rubbish everywhere. The beach is filthy, plastic bags and empty bottles are everywhere, even in the water. The beach and surroundings are disgusting. The water is not crystal clear like advertised. It's dirty. If you like clean beaches, Durres is not a good choice.

It's clearly a city that is growing its tourism sector by building new hotels and restaurants along the coast. The current location is lovely on the beach, and the hotels and restaurants are great, but the infrastructure is still developing (as one should expect in a developing country) so can be a bit difficult to navigate.

Durres is nice to visit for the day if you’re coming from Tirana as it’s a 30 minute bus ride and only 180 lek. However, this is a case of Instagram vs reality, the photos of the beach do not measure up. Unfortunately the beach is riddled with building debris and plastic waste, making it unsafe to walk on barefoot. I would not return and would not come here for a beach holiday.
Sunsets on the beach were nice.

Durres is the largest seaport of the country and the oldest...
Durres is the largest seaport of the country and the oldest city in Albania with almost 3,000 years of history. Learning the history of this country was valuable in understanding the areas where I have been. Albania has suffered much under the cruel 40-year dictatorshp of Enver Hoxha that lasted until 1985. He was an atheist and ordered all buildings of worship to be destroyed. Thus, I have only seen a handful of churches and mosques. The Grand Mosque is located nearby and is a lovely piece of architecture. The calls to worship that come from the speakers on the minaret (pointing in all directions of the compass) are pleasant to hear even if they start at 6:00 a.m. The calls are heard 5 times a day and is a part of every day life.
There are several open air archeological sites within walking distance. Museums were closed unfortunately during my entire 14-day stay. Cafes are everywhere and offer inexpensive tasty traditional food.
It is obvious that the city is very affluent with the influx of tourism. The sidewalks in the centre are made of polished stone. English is spoken or understood in limited degrees but enough for me to be understood. When I pay for an item, I put the small change in my hand and they pick out the coins needed and are always careful to let me know what they are doing. Albanian currency is the LEK although they will accept euros at 100 LEK to 1 Euro.
Durres has been my home for two weeks and it has been a relaxing and enjoyable time.

Durres is on the one hand an exiting city, but on the other too crowded.
The traffic is terrible. High airpolution. Mentality of people different to what we are used to in Europe.
Every body is very friendly when asked for help or support, and a lot of them are speaking broken German lanuage, 90% of the young males lover 3er BMW, the older generation is more or less Mercedes-fan.
All other cars are not cars, but vehicles.
But be careful. Not all are your friends.
The females know two ways of talking only: 1. loud / 2. very loud
Beside the capital Tirana, and the big towns Durres and Shkodar, where people most live, the country is poor, but with a lovely landscape.
It takes more then 3 weeks to discover Albania and its secrets. But its worthwile, once you are retired and still fit and adventoures.

we went to the city of Durrës twice, once by city bus (but inside the bus was very crowded) and the second time we went by taxi. The city was very beautiful and we saw development constructions being done, the food was very tasty, I recommend it to others because they will find what they are looking for in their vacation
We spent a week at Resort Arbeni in Kap Rondi, Albania, and it was a good stay overall.
The resort's location right on the beach was the best part. Being able to walk straight onto the beach was convenient, and our room had a nice view of the sea, which was a plus. Waking up to the ocean view was really relaxing.
The staff at the resort were friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome from the beginning and were responsive to our requests. Their positive attitude added to the experience.
My stay at this Airbnb was absolutely fantastic! The location was ideal, close to the center, and the space itself was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. The host was exceptional , going above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Communication was seamless, and any questions or concerns I had were promptly addressed. I highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting Durres, Albania and look forward to returning in the future!
Public transport is a bit hectic in Albania and it seems that there is no bus arriving exactly at the property. However, the owner picked me up at the bus station. It was great that the WiFi was so strong - that I could use it at the beach in front of the hotel. Despite the busy promenade, the room was surprisingly quiet. Air conditioning worked well. The owner drove me to the airport for 20 eur - cheaper than the local taxi driver suggestion.
Hotel is perfectly situated right on the beach. Staff are helpful and cheerful.
Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a 10 minute taxi ride to Durres town.
The place is spotlessly clean and the rooms are cleaned daily.
Enough choice at breakfast and the cocktails at the bar are good.
If you want a relaxing holiday by the beach this place is perfect.
Reception will organise day trips if you want to explore Albania.
Really unique place to stay in Durres, located in the central location. Awesome view and you can feel as on the ship when sitting on the balcony. Staff was very friendly, professional and helpful - they helped to arrange and even guided us to the taxi. Breakfast was very good and a bit different from what we had in the other hotels, like Albanian alternative cuisine :)
I took this hotel because it was close to the airport without expecting much
I was surprised, the place is beautiful, the wine and food is really good, and the hotel staff is incredibly nice
little tip: respect the advice of the waitress for the meal
special mention to Abrigeila who made my last day in Albania one of the most beautiful
THE BEST HOTEL IN ALBANIA
Forget the palace Hotel please, Villa pascucci deserves the 5 Stars!

-Awesome Art Hotel & modern rooms
-good breakfast and really lovely Service
-two nice Pool areas
-good own Restaurant and Professional service!
-highly recommend the Spa Massage
-The batrhoom is deluxe
Wonderful apartment with beautiful ocean view in great location. It's well equipped even for a longer stay, it also has a washing machine. It is surrounded by many good restaurants and cafes, about 50 meters from the ocean. Probably the best place we've stayed in Albania. Highly recommended!
The restaurant was the best thing about this hotel. We ate dinner there two nights and the service, food and wine were good. We had the complimentary breakfast, which was a plentiful buffet and decent filtered coffee (almost impossible to find in Albania). The room was clean and a good size.
fantastic location- close to the beach, near the bus stop and surrounded with supermarkets. big, specious rooms and available kitchen. really nice and laid-back hosts. I absolutely recommend this place and when I am coming back to Albania I will come back there for sure.
The room was clean and everything inside was new. Everyday the maids clean the room top to bottom, the staff was very friendly, helpful and always smiling. The location of the hotel was in front of the beach and the view from the balcony was awesome.
Amazing place, very close to the beach and perfect for family holidays, very friendly host, reception 24 hours and the hotel was few meters from the beach side and the “lungomare” very close to supermarkets, restaurants and bars. I will recommend it
Lovely little hotel, amazing location, from the room straight to the beach. Friendly staff, always there to help. Very clean. The area where the hotel is is beautiful, much prettier and cleaner than near Durres center.
Out of all hotels that we have seen in Albania, this one has the best facilities- the beach, the pool, a great restaurant, a really nice deck in the sea for bar/ concerts, live music and dancing, fantastic stuff!! But…
Overall nicely appointed and modern. Beautiful location as are any of these beachfront hotels in Durres. Met some great guys and gals here the Albanian people are very nice, spoke English, and were fun to talk to.
The location was great but a shuttle service to the city center will be extremely helpful for all the visitors. The food was tasty and beer is always cheap in Albania.
