Onyado Nono Matsue Natural Hot Spring ligger i Matsue, 1,7 km fra Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum. Dette overnatningssted med 4 stjerner har et spa- og wellnesscenter. - amazing rooftop onsen (from the women’s bath little window you can see the castle!) - with free ice cream afterwards - big rooms, with comfortable beds and cute decorations to give a traditional feeling (even the ceiling had 2 different types of wood paneling. Mine had a view of the canal. Higher ones could have a castle or lake view. - amazing breakfast buffet, with a lot of local specialties (Izumo soba, zenzai…) - within walking distance of the castle and historical houses.

Ryokan Nushiya ligger i Gotsu, 13 km fra Gotsu City General Citizen Center Milky Way Hall, og har en have, en terrasse og en restaurant samt gratis privat parkering. This was our fourth trip to Japan and we've stayed in many ryokans. This is one of our favorites. The space we stayed at was huge. It was a two-story stand alone building. The seats looked out onto the courtyard with a pond and a lot of trees, which was very peaceful. I'm usually not the type to stay in my hotel/ryokan all day, but this place tempted me to do so due to the serenity of the courtyard. There were two private onsen that were easy to access due to the small number of guests that stay here. The food was fabulous. While walking around one morning I found a hiking trail that led up to castle ruins. The next morning I hiked up to the ruins and down the other side and came out near the Moss Land.

You get to stay on the beautiful temple grounds. The view from the property is great. A great location in between Izumo and Matsue. There's a hiking trail that starts close by that goes all the way to the ocean. There's a sauna right outside the cabin that you can rent for a few hours. One of the employees from the temple will bring you breakfast each morning. We went to the nearby Izumo Enmusubi Onsen (about 15 min drive) and enjoyed the large outdoor onsen. Watching the birds fly over while relaxing in the onsen was so pleasant. It's neither a pro nor a con, but the cabin itself had a very western feel to it. At one point my wife said "I feel like we've stayed in places like this in the US". This was a great deal for the price.

Clean and modern yet comfortable, hotel staffs are very friendly and nice. They also have great Spa with sauna, and they don't care if you have tattoos like other hotels and hot springs in Japan. Very close (walking distance) from JR Masuda Station. Nice restaurant and bar with great breakfast.
