The Queens Escape is one very unique and special chateau, if you are seeking something very different to your usual overnight, short or long stay, then this amazing chateau will not disappoint. Set in outstandingly beautiful grounds and within easy reach to the Dordogne river, and all the attractions offers, you will quickly feel like royalty especially as Karen, our host, was both very friendly and attentive to our needs without imposing on our privacy. Don't expect flatscreen TV's and modern tech, just relax and take in the scenery, amazing sunsets, walks around the grounds, watch deer, listen to the crickets and wildlife. You won't be disappointed! Martel, the nearest village, is a 10-minute drive and would highly recommend a visit to this medieval gem. My wife and I only stayed for 3 nights, and would have stayed longer but for the fact we were on a tour of France. I would not hesitate staying again in ever in the area. Karen & Bo

If the medieval city of Martel is a crown topping this part of the Dordogne Valley, then Le Petit Moulin is the jewel in the crown. It's perfectly located in a quietish street in the main part of town, and offers lots of dining tables, a Wine Bar and shop, plus 5 delightful hotel rooms. We stayed 2 nights and ate 2 dinners at Le Petit Moulin and were enchanted by the staff, the menu and our room. Camille, Florian and the other waiters know the menu and make excellent wine pairing suggestions. The chef uses local, seasonal ingredients and creates stunning flavour profiles. The menu is relatively small, which is a sure sign of freshness and home-cooked food. There is a starter and a main dish of the day to round out the offerings. The restaurant is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner; reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity. Owner Adrien has recently refurbished 5 bedrooms in this corner building, and ours was exceptional. The modern design combined with some older features create a lovely blend and ensure your comfort. The bathroom is gorgeous with two sinks, toilet, and walk-in shower. The buffet breakfast features hand-crafted croissants and pains au chocolat such as I have never seen during over 40 years living in France. Martel itself is a real gem; lively old buildings and everyday shops that show that real people live in the town. There is a good selection of restaurants to serve the many tourists, but we did not feel like we were in an overly tourist-oriented spot. All in all, Le Petit Moulin provided us with an excellent base for eating, drinking, sleeping, and exploring the area. We intend returning!

I honestly cannot fault this property. I had the most magical time there. The breakfast was delicious, every little detail was thought through, and the location was so peaceful. Places like this are so rare, and it restores my faith to stay somewhere like this. I can't wait to come back!!

Beautiful location right under the cliffs and next to the Dordogne River. Lovely swimming pool - my kids loved it and cooled us all down. We had an amazing meal on the terrace, not only did the look incredible but it tasted amazing. The staff were also very helpful and went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. We can’t wait to come back

The location of the hotel is fantastic. The staff were very nice and extremely helpful. The room with terrace was ideal, it was a shame we couldn't have enjoyed it more due to the rain. The meal in the restaurant was first class. We would not hesitate in staying again

The room was a good size and had all we needed. Contact points including the bathroom. Also mirrors. The best was having really good lighting in the bedroom which seems to be unusual for a lot of hotels. Bathroom good, towels and bedding changed twice during our 8 day stay. Staff were friendly and nice.
