All in all a perfekt stay. Especially the hosts were really great. On my leaving day they had a trip planed into the same direction I was heading. Not only did they bring me to the harbor, we also had a little sightseeing tour on the way :)

The location is incredible! You’re in a small village right by one of the most beautiful beaches in Japan, quiet, untouched by tourism, packed full of traditional houses with ornate roofs, vegetable plots and small shrines. Nearby is another fabulous beach for snorkeling (Myoken-ura) where we saw lots of colourful fish whilst black kites circled above. A truly beautiful area. Kaz’s place is great: huge tatami rooms, a rustic and cool feel to it, and not too modernised which we found fantastic-it felt like we living in an old temple…but warmer and with TV! (A tip for finding the place: it’s easiest to go to the road along the beach first and and go up from there and park nearby!)

Amazing host! Very kind and responsive. We accidentally left our earbuds in the house and they sent them to us immediately without charge. The location is great, right inside the cultural heritage village. You can see the sea from the first floor too. Would recommend anyone who is visiting Amakusa!

With a 7.7 on Booking I was expecting something quite average, but even for a single night stay it exceeded my expectations. Staff found some covered space for my bicycle and gave me great recommendations for local sushi. Right in the middle of town so walking distance to everything you need. Wide choice of breakfast and the chicken teriyaki I had was excellent. Convenience store next door if you need it. Lobby and communal areas were clean, comfortable and welcoming. Room was clean, quiet and comfortable.
