The house is lovely, with a huge terrace and palm trees facing the sea. Makes you almost feel like you arrived - well, in Hawaii. But it is the hospitality which makes this place truly exceptional. We faced a sudden change of plans and they made a huge effort to help us re-schedule everything, and also recommended us things to do nearby. And, when the bus connections did not quite work out the hosts offered to drive us. 11/10 for the hospitality. The dinner was delicious and served in a lovely setting with some Hawaiian entertainment. We wish we could have stayed longer!

The room was very cosy and comfortable, the bathrooms clean and functionally equipped with everything you could possibly need. The owners were nice and helpful, even though they spoke Japanese, they explained the bus, the hiking possibilities and gave us food recommendations. The location is perfect, 20 minutes walk from the ferry terminal and close to the restaurant and bus stop so you don't need a car. The breakfast is Japanese but adequate.

The owner is super nice person! She helped me to plan my trips, she gave me bus time schedule, she offered to prepare home made onigiri and tea every day so I had a snack for my trips. She knows some basic words in English but she can easily translate everything with the Google Translator. Almost all parts of the house are shared, very friendly atmosphere. Toast bread and coffee/tea are available for a breakfast. There is only one restroom and bathroom but I never had a problem to get there. Great location next to the airport and bus stop and drug store. Not noisy, its almost like in the forest.

We stayed in the cottage 5 minutes away, it had everything we needed and the view was beautiful. The staff were excellent, helpful hosts. There was a washing machine and somewhere to hang the clothes with a fan to dry them, a bathtub big enough for two as well as a kitchen. We highly recommend the menu at Takahira Base, super healthy and delicious.

Really comfortable, clean, and excellent value accommodation. Quiet and peaceful area. Moderate walk from Miyanoura (~30 minutes, pathed and lit) or very short drive (~5 minutes). There's a bus stop a few minutes walk from the property with several buses a day going to Miyanoura and beyond (e.g. Anbo). I would love to stay here again, though next time I would hire a car to make it easier to travel without being constrained by buses.

The whole area is just wonderful and a great starting point for exploring the island. We stayed in a spacious wooden cabin with out own kitchenette and toilet, and we had our own private bathroom with a bath that comfortably fits one person and uncomfortably two. :)) The accommodation is in walking distance from few restaurants and bus stops, but also hidden away in the nature, close to a river. The owner is very nice and hospitable and even picked us up in the city when we first arrived. We had a great time!

This accommodation was booked at short notice after jetfoil services were cancelled. The hosts were responsive to my messages and very kind about the check-in time. Although I had not planned to stay here, I am grateful that I was able to do so. The room was very pleasnt with a great view over the ocean. I would certainly consider staying here again, although it is a little way out of town, so travellers with a car might appreciate its charms more.

This accommodation is a bit far from the port so we had to rent a car to get there. The stay exceeded our expectations due to the pleasant hostess, the tasty breakfast and the luxuriously equipped room. The hostess also managed to provide us with a number of nice addresses, so in our opinion a great stay!

I had a wonderful time staying at Daichan house. The host helped me finishing my hiking plan. Drove me to the nearest grocery store and also helped me to buy the correct bus ticket for Jomon sugi hike. Again, thank you very much !!! The accomodation on itself was perfect for me : It's clean and quiet. I recommend this accomodation for any travelers in Yakushima !
