I fell ill just before I checked in. The staff were concerned and took care of me. The general manager almost literally carried me to my room, checked in on me, then called an ambulance when I showed no sign of improvement. The staff in general, and he in particular, could not have been kinder or more human. And, it’s an excellent pub, restaurant and hotel!

Set in the grounds of the spectacular Leeds Castle in Kent, this property offers a free entry to the castle (subject to availabilities) and its grounds as part of their stay. Guests at the Stable Courtyard have 900 years of history and 500 acres of beautiful parkland on their doorstep. Situated in the castle stable block the room was in a busy area during the day but once the castle visitors left the area was deserted. Room booking gave access to the castle diring the day and grounds at night. A very well appointed clean modern room. Excellent cooked breakfast

The bright and airy bedrooms at Canterbury Cathedral Lodge each have a flat-screen TV and tea/coffee facilities. All rooms feature a modern bathroom, and many have cathedral views. The Annex room with private bathroom was very good. The description of having to climb 40 stairs to the annex rooms is misleading. It was not a straight up 40 Steps but definitely not for those traveling with suitcases. Loved the closeness to the cathedral which allowed free unlimited walking in the cathedral and on the grounds all day. Breakfast was sit down by time skits and offered a fabulous huge choice. The rooms bathroom was big and the room had a large smart tv. Internet signal was strong. Definitely the place to stay if you’re a pilgrim starting the Via Francigena because you feel your right in the centre of this beautiful religious sanctuary.

Good breakfast. Lovely rooms.

This 4-star hotel offers a bar. The property is non-smoking and is set 10 km from Canterbury West Train Station. Friendly welcome, Rooms are very comfortable and cosy. Bed is comfortable, feather duvets and pillows, quality bedding. We had room 5 at the side of the pub in the more modern part. Think this was quieter than the front rooms (but village road is quiet at night.). All meals were excellent and staff very amenable to personal food choices. We ate in the pub in the evenings, plenty of choice, though menu didn’t vary while we were there. Dog friendly 👍. Staff were all great and willingly shared their local knowledge. Bus X3 has stops nearby for easy access to Canterbury and Faversham. We would happily stay there again.

Sandown Castle is 15 km from the homestay and Sandwich Railway Station is 20 km away. Wow! This place is an absolute gem. Excellent interior design with very comfortable furnishings. Loved the many touches that made this stop "home". Good shower and veey comfortable bed. The hosts were onto it and made us feel very welcome, accommdating an earlier checkin and storing our touring bicycles safely. Breakfast provisions were good, and suggestions for local eateries proved good too. Def want to stay again!
