Featuring a bar, Nirvana Inn is located in Paro. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, a shared lounge and free WiFi. Nirvana Inn is honestly the best place to stay in Paro, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Not only are the rooms beautifully clean, they also have the best views. My father got a room with a balcony and he was in heaven just watching the planes leave Paro whilst drinking coffee on the balcony! Not only that the guide they provided us; his name Sonam, was so intellectually smart on the history of Bhutan, he gave us the best understanding of Bhutan culturally. We honestly recommend him if you want an honest hard working and professional guide who is completely dedicated to his country, Sonam is the guide! We have learnt so much from him, and we will treasure his words forever! Nirvana Inn has the most helpful beautiful staff and that is the reason why it made our stay so special and one we will never ever forget! Thank you to all the staff of Nirvana! We will be back again in the future for sure!!!!

Located in Paro, Spirit of Bhutan resort offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a restaurant and a bar. The accommodation provides room service and a 24-hour front desk for guests. Best breakfast we had during 15 days in Bhutan. The home-made pastries were just delicious, and the service was excellent. The views on the paddy fields and the Paro dzong from both the bedroom and the dining hall were breath-taking. The background music at breakfast soothing and relaxing. This hotel is a very good, reasonably priced choice if you want to be close to Paro town center and are not interested in one of the many deluxe accommodations scattered around the valley in isolated places.

I had a wonderful stay at Zhideychan Resort in Paro. The location is absolutely stunning — perched in a peaceful spot with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, yet only a short walking distance from the city. It strikes a perfect balance between tranquility and convenience. The highlight of my stay was definitely waking up to those majestic mountain views right from my room. The resort also has a beautiful glass bar with huge windows that frame the scenery perfectly. Sitting there with a drink and watching the mountains was a truly unforgettable experience. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the atmosphere of the resort felt very calm and welcoming. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help. If you're visiting Paro and want a relaxing stay with spectacular mountain views and easy access to the town, Zhideychan Resort is a fantastic choice. Is a nice town, was nice to walk around the main street and see all the handicrafts shops. Very good pizza and food made in Mountain Cafe. We did a hike to the museum from our hotel, more than one hour that was superb.
Paro is a lovely place. In Bhutan one must visit and stay in Paro at least for two days. Sheer location of the town with hilly terrain, meandering river flowing close by and airport runway beyond with the mesmerising hills all around is magical.
There is a lot to do, and you should probably plan for TakSang - The Tiger's Nest Temple, which is a full day program. It is just really an experience walking in Paro city close to the Dzong, by the river. Again an evening walk in the market and having a drink in mountain cafe is something you don't want to miss.
A place where myths meet legends and folklore takes you centuries away whilst you are left wondering whether the dragons will appear or not, since it's the land of thunder dragons. Beautiful monasteries and humble monks give a real taste of the country's culture. You will need a taxi to manouevre as public transport isn't very regular. Also, if you go shopping in the crafts market make sure to haggle at least for a 15-20% discount on things you buy.
Paro is a cool small city to visit with quite a few nice places you can add on your watch and Visit list. For over half the locations (like temples and Tigers nest you require a guide to visit them. Keep this in mind!. There are quite a few very good guides there who do a lot more than help you out. Make good use of them! A driver in Bhutan is also needed as renting a car van only be done with drive due to the challenging (rocking you asleep yawn) roads. Road conditions over all are quite reasonable and compared to India, a definite upgrade.
My trip to Paro, Bhutan was unforgettable, especially the hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery — truly a spiritual and scenic experience. The natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere made the journey worthwhile. However, I found the mandatory tour guide policy limiting. As an experienced traveler, I prefer exploring at my own pace and felt the guide’s control over the itinerary was excessive. While I understand Bhutan’s intent to preserve its culture and environment, a more flexible approach — such as having professional guides stationed at key sites — would enhance the experience for independent travelers. The current system can feel restrictive and rushed, especially when guides impose their own preferences. I hope Bhutan’s tourism board considers more traveler-friendly options in the future. Overall, Paro is a gem, and I’d love to return if more freedom is allowed in planning and pacing the trip.
