The breakfasts we had were delicious. One morning we had to leave early to meet our tour and Edu graciously rose early to fix us breakfast- totally unexpected!

Corcovado Bungalow is a delightful home, hosted by a beautiful family. It is peaceful and private, with stunning views and nature all around you. We enjoyed toucans, scarlet macaws, tanagers and monkeys in the trees next to us and an anteater walking along the lane as we left! The pool area is a lovely place to relax. For us, it was the perfect place to stay to visit Corcovado National Park and to soak up the whole atmosphere of this beautiful, unspoilt corner of the world.

The place has beautiful gardens with a stunning view of Drake Bay waters from the pool deck and dining area. The food is outstanding and the staff are very solicitous to ensure your comfort. Communication with Mary at reception during the stay is excellent. We booked 2 rooms for 4 adults and we were given the cabin with adjoining rooms that overlooks the river pond. The rooms were spacious, clean, modern and comfortable with a large deck. The aircon and hot water worked well, except that there was a region wide power outage for a few hours during our first day, and a problem with the water pump on our second day, which was fixed as soon as possible. I was impressed that the lodge on its own initiative gave us a partial refund for the inconvenience caused, even though it was not their fault. That’s customer service. The other thing we loved was the abundance of bird and wildlife at the property. We saw coatis, a crocodile, otter, capuchin monkeys, toucans, macaws, hawks, humming birds, etc. This is a place where one can kick back and relax and soak in nature. The beach is 3 minutes walk below the lodge (although the best swimming area is further down the beach), and there’s a tower one can climb with a fantastic view. One thing to note is that the cabin we stayed in was 70 steps below the main lodge area, which was not a problem for us, but you may wish to ask for a cabin in the main area.
