I love staying at Tambor Tropical. This is my 4th stay. It is oceanfront, very quiet and calm unlike Santa Teresa. You are still near enough to Montezuma and Santa teresa to visit for the day or for a nice meal but staying at TT is like a little slice of paradise.

The location, staff, and room were all amazing. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the surroundings were beautiful. The food was also delicious and exceeded our expectations. The only downside was the daily tour groups that arrived, which disrupted the peaceful environment at times.

During my stay I felt at absolute peace. The property is in a secluded place where you can hear ara macaws, congos, parakeets and wind chimes, that's all. If you want to enjoy nature, this is the place you should go. You can also visit many beautiful beaches and national parks on one-day trips, the location is strategic.

This is the place to go to see the bioluminescent plankton.
This is the place to go to see the bioluminescent plankton. It was beautiful. The ferry ride was fun. We used Eddy’s tour. He was very knowledgeable about the biodiversity and the provided the best bioluminescence tour. We did have four senior couples in our group. Eddy was very thoughtful about helping some of our group into the boat

There were people from all parts of the world in one little town. It is worth exploring the surrounding areas, because the actual town of Montezuma is rather small. There are different dining and lodging options for all tastes and budgets. The town/beach is at the bottom of a very steep hill, and getting up and down could be a challenge for walkers.

Paquera is a great little town, not swarming with tourists. It is on the way to Montezuma and Santa Teresa but has a more typical Costa Rican feel with quaint little restaurants and a great beach at Playa Órganos.

Fantastic home slightly up the mountain in the middle of the natural beauty of the area. Very private location but not far from the main area. Loved having kitchen for breakfast and anything else you wanted to cook. Freddy, the host, was great to deal with. Pool was great overlooking the Pacific. Loved it and would definitely stay again!!

We didn't do the waterfalls near Montezuma as it was too hot and the hike is a bit of a challenge (for us).
We went to the cemetery in Cabuya at low tide. Made for a nice walk and amazed at this cemetery on an island only accessible at low tide.
There is a grocery store that provides necessities but you may want to bring any favorite items to eat.
Would recommend a car as it is a bit remote - but that is what makes it so desirable.

Clean, safe and a nice chilled vibe … definitely not a Tamarindo … attractions close by including a snorkelling trip to Talouga ( I’m sure I’ve spelt that wrong ! ) a pod of 20+ dolphins and well worth the money / effort / time.

Excellent service from the staff.
Excellent service from the staff. Cabins were really nice, although dark as they are made of local wood. No plastic anywhere. Good kitchen facilities.
Lacked a good light anywhere to read under, other than that, our stay was most pleasant.
Henry’s pizza, and the bar next door, just 100m along the road, had excellent food and drinks as well. There is a well stocked mini super 50m further to stock up on snacks and food if you use the kitchen in the cabin. All in all, a most pleasant stay.

Some great restaurants!
Some great restaurants! We especially enjoyed Playa de Los Artistas, Soda La Naranja, and Cocolores. We also enjoyed morning yoga at Ylang Ylang, the accessibility of the beach, and the walkability of the town and local waterfalls. Fun music scene at night if that’s your thing.

We loved our hotel and would stay there again.
We loved our hotel and would stay there again. "Rustic" but also charming and with a friendly staff. We took the Tortuga Island snorkeling trip through Bahia Rica and highly recommend that company. The boat took us to several islands to see beautiful wildlife and gorgeous scenery. We also took a bioluminescence tour which was very fun.

Cabuya, located in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, is a charming small beach town that is situated near the Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve. It is often compared to the rural beach communities of the country before the 1990s tourism boom, which means that it has a less developed tourist infrastructure and offers a more authentic Costa Rican vacation experience. If you're looking for some peace and quiet, Cabuya is the perfect place to be. While nearby beaches like Mal Pais, Montezuma, and Santa Teresa are great for surfing enthusiasts.
