I recently visited Sulaymaniyah, and I was truly impressed by the beauty of the city and the warmth of its people. The natural scenery around the city is absolutely stunning, with beautiful mountains and green landscapes that create a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. Walking through the city, I found it to be vibrant yet relaxed, with a unique charm that makes you feel at home.
What made my visit even more special was the kindness and hospitality of the people. Everywhere I went, I was met with friendly smiles and genuine offers of help. The locals are incredibly welcoming and proud of their city, and it's easy to see why.
Sulaymaniyah is a perfect blend of natural beauty, culture, and heartfelt hospitality. I’m so grateful for my time there and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly memorable experience.

The markets aren't as organized as Duhok.
The markets aren't as organized as Duhok. But you can get nice deals and carpets in a few shops. Most goods we purchased in a road trip to Biyara and hit a few towns along the way. When you arrange for a vehicle, get an SUV or minivan with good AC. This will cost you $100 per day max and you can hit 3-4 nice stops over an 8 hour period.
We traveled to several waterfalls and Biyara (Iran border). Of course, when your spouse speaks Arabic things go smoother. They speak Kurdish in Slemani, but Arabic is understood.
You can purchase tower apartments for 30-40K dollars.

Beautiful views. Super nice people. A lovely city with great shopping and delicious food. Nicely priced, too. Be sure to go to the top of the mountain for sunset. And to see the amphitheater in the big park. Great vibes!
