Staying at Minshuku Irayoi was a wonderful experience. The property is clean, charming, and a short walk from the bus stop and Shiraho beach, full of marine life. Free shower and laundry soap, washing machine and tumble dryer are also available, which is convenient. Outstanding meals prepared by one of the minshuku owners, who is also a local artist. Do make time for a chat with her and her husband, who are happy to provide tips and recommendations for things to do in the area, and who facilitate conversation with other guests if staying for meals. Chances are you will spend a lovely evening getting to know fellow travellers around drinks and music. Stay at Irayoi if you're interested in learning about real Ishigaki life and culture!

Everything was great! I Definitely recommend it, it’s a very good place to stay while in Ishigaki. The hosts are wonderful and really take pride and care in their guest house, they’ll make you feel at home. It’s a little bit outside the main town but closer to the airport and perfectly connected, the busses that stop right in front of the house are also the main busses of Ishigaki and can take you to the airport as well as many beaches.
By staying here you’ll feel much more the vibe of a tropical island. There are loads of mangroves in the back yard and an access to the river for kayaking!

Very good location and easily accessible to the port and airport bus terminal . The room is spacious and comfy for the price. Even though the building is somewhat outdated it is still well equipped.

New Ishigaki Airport (ISG) Information
Location and Transport
Just over a mile (2 kilometres) from the centre of Ishigaki, New Ishigaki Airport (or simply, ‘Ishigaki Airport’) is a 30-minute drive from the city. A taxi journey will apply a fare of JPY 390, then an additional cost per 2 kilometres (just over a mile). Airport buses run to and from the city every 15 minutes, from around 06:00 until 21:00.
Nearby Hotels and Airport Facilities
If you’re looking for a place to stay during a stopover, or between connecting flights, the nearest hotels are in Shiraho, which is 3 miles (5 kilometres) from the airport. Some hotels also offer an airport shuttle service. In the terminals, there are shops selling local food and crafts produced on the island of Ishigaki. WiFi is available for an extra cost, and there are also lockers and ATMs. If you want to unwind a little before take-off, you can book yourself in for a massage, or chill out on the roof-top observation terrace.
Terminal Information
There’s an international and a domestic terminal, which are connected by a walkway, so there’s no need for a shuttle bus.

Just a great Island with spectacular beaches and tropical rainforest.
You do need a car but then its easy to get around the Island.
Best beaches Fusaki and Sunset. Take a hike up to through the Tropical Forest to Mount Omoto (a challenge !).
Take a day boat trip and go snorkelling with Hori and watch the Manta Rays.

Great place for people liking dark skies, quiet, and not many people. Do your research on the Island and find the beautiful places to visit. Beaches, Caves, Dark Skies, very nice locals. How can you go wrong? Be sure to rent (in advance) a car at the airport so you can travel around this farming and beautiful island.

It is a stunning island with beautiful beaches, If you are staying for a week, it is worth hiring a car. It is right hand drive and the roads are relatively quiet and peaceful. Otherwise, it is manageable on the public bus system which is cost effective and very efficient but you must check the timetables as each service runs to specific times (not on the hour). We enjoyed walking around Ishigaki town area and the public market. Kabira Bay is a must visit as it is utterly stunning, and apart from peak times (boat trip start/end) it is a tiny peaceful place.

After more than 8 visits in the last 4 years ( and counting)i can only say is , Dont stay here its a bad island, place is infested with bugs and jelly fish . Trash everywhere , stinky cattle smell everywhere. Beaches are ugly and people are rude. The food are terrible and facilities are non existent. Good luck getting sick in the remote island!
Go somewhere else ( Miyako and Naha) so we wont have anyone else to compete with our beloved island with! shoo!
