The staff was most accommodating, friendly, helpful, and pleasant. It is a quaint place and in a secluded part of town where there are sufficient businesses to make for a comfortable stay.

A Hidden Gem With a Heart Amor and Babydog. Little Hostel isn’t just a place to sleep it’s an experience you don’t expect but will definitely remember. What makes it special isn’t only the comfort or the cleanliness, but the spirit of the place, and that comes from Amor. Amor has a special gift she notices the small things. Whether it’s recommending the quietest corner to relax, preparing breakfast with genuine care, or remembering tiny details about each guest, she makes you feel like you’re staying with family, not in a business. Her kindness is natural not forced, not scripted and that’s what sets Little Hostel apart. And her fur baby Babydog, the unofficial “wellness manager.” This little dog has a surprising ability to brighten your mood with his cute smile and tail wagging. He doesn’t just greet guests he checks on them, comforts them, and somehow knows exactly when you need a little fluff-ball of happiness. It’s a special kind of therapy you don’t pay for but you definitely appreciate. Most hostels offer beds and breakfast. Little Hostel offers warmth, connection, and a feeling of being genuinely cared for. And plus the bed is very comfortable I had a good night sleep here. If you’re looking for a place with a soul, not just service this is where you’ll find it. A truly unforgettable stay. Highly recommended.

An excellent stay at this friendly guesthouse — I absolutely loved it. It’s a family-run business, and the owner personally takes care of the guests, treating everyone like family. She’s super friendly and helpful. She can arrange all kinds of transportation, and even when I was late, she did her best to help. The breakfast is excellent, and she also offers takeaway food for the bus or slow boat, as well as SIM cards at a good price. Kids are always welcome, and the children around are very friendly too. The guesthouse has been around for more than 20 years, and you can really feel the traditional Lao style — with beautiful, solid wooden furniture throughout the guesthouse and restaurant. It gives a warm and authentic charm to the place. The rooms are decorated in the same traditional style. The bathroom shows a bit of age, but everything is well-maintained and clean. I had an excellent shower during my stay. I also loved the Lao coffee served at the guesthouse — strong, aromatic, and full of flavor. Loved the place, and I’ll definitely be back!

The owner was so kind and stayed up late to let us check in at 10pm. He helped us sort the slow boat for the following morning and offered a great price for us!

If your used to the Hilton its not for you.

If your used to the Hilton its not for you. If you are ok with clean and close to local environment, it's good. Its not fancy. Its clean. The concierge is attentive. And there are nice local walks. And a cement walkway just down the the same street the hotel is on. That goes along the river. No one was on it. I really enjoyed it. I stayed 2 nights. I put the do not disturb sign on my door. No one bothered my room. The locals smiled. And were friendly. Its a small street town. Not a tourist corporate town. A local vendor town. If your looking for hustle and bustle its not here. The Cafe next door did have activity until around 8pm. The Hotel was not far from the friendship bridge. And Tuk Tuks were available apon arrival and took me straight to the hotel. They knew where it was. There was several Tuk Tuks waiting every morning to take you back to the Thai immigration port. 200 baht.

We really enjoyed walking up to the fort built in 1900.

We really enjoyed walking up to the fort built in 1900. The coffee, view of the town and Mekong river were excellent. The food at the various restaurants was very tasty. We met some locals; who took us to the morning market.

A great city to do a border run, particularly if you stay at Fortune Riverview Hotel Chiang Khong - which seems to be the nicest accommodation in the area. We enjoyed our stay here quite a bit and would return.

Very pleased we decided to stay here rather than going onto...

Very pleased we decided to stay here rather than going onto Chiang Rai after a second long day on the slow boat. One-horse town but with several good little restaurants all within a couple of minutes walk from where we stayed. Staying here also meant that crossing the border the following morning was very easy as noone was around.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river. Views are amazing and the food is good. It is not very big so staying for an extended time may be dull for some. Great for relaxing and quiet. Excellent for walking and/or riding bicycles.
