We recently stayed in the one-bedroom bungalow suite at Viewpoint Ecolodge and had an exceptional experience. The hotel is beautifully renovated, with 24-hour electricity (a rare promise kept in Myanmar) and reliable Wi-Fi. The room was spacious, well-furnished, and felt like home, with adjustable A/C or heating for night-time comfort. Excellent value for the price.
Breakfast was simple yet high-quality, offering customizable continental or local options. I particularly enjoyed the traditional Shan tofu nway and fresh avocado juice made with local ingredients. The Shan dinner was equally impressive, featuring fresh produce from local markets and the hotel’s eco-farm.
The location is perfect for exploring Nyaung Shwe, local markets, mountain trails, and Inle Lake via their private jetty. The staff were warm, professional, and spoke excellent English.
Viewpoint Ecolodge exceeded expectations—a beautifully designed, eco-friendly retreat and a true home away from home. Highly recommended!

It’s a lovely hotel run by a super friendly owner. Perfect spot for boat trips and really affordable too. There are quite a few mosquitoes because of the area, but if you use some repellent, there’s nothing to worry about. Totally recommend it!

I have been to this town on several previous occasions, (I live in Myanmar, and have an educational charity and donate at the various orphanages). Due to the current 'situation' in Myanmar, there are very few foreign tourists in Nyaung Shwe, and many larger hotels, restaurants and shops that cater to foreign tourists are closed. However, the locality is very safe and the local people are very friendly and helpful. The internet is relatively stable, but take a torch with you because the electricity supply to the town is only available for a few hours each day. Larger hotels have generators, but smaller hotels do not!
