Visby is nothing short of magical. Walking along the ancient city walls and exploring the picturesque alleys feels like stepping back in time. Wonderful city within the old walls, with ample restaurants and shops. Was very easy to walk around or hire a bike and cycle for hours. The Old ruins make the city feel magical and the bars and restaurants had lots to offer to please al guests.

Great old city full of very old buildings and cobblestones streets. Busses connect you with most of the island or hire a car to explore outside the old town. Bike hire is another option for getting around.

Visby is indeed a beautiful city.
Visby is indeed a beautiful city. We loved to stroll around inside and outside the city walls. We also visited many places around the island including Farö. We can highly recommend Visby as well as the whole island.

Arrived during medieval week, where the locals from baby's, to teens, to adult and the old, all get dressed in the local "traditional" costumes of an era long gone. Visby is one of the Hansa towns, so has great history of for the area and has kept its medieval look and feel with narrow streets (v.limited cars thank heavens), cafes by babbling streams, great restaurants with amzing staff who all spoke English - phew! If you want to kick-off your corporate shoes, jacket and laptop, head to Gotlands capital and use it as a base to see the rest of this amazing Swedish Island.
