Friendly receptionists, good restaurant next door, thanks to Any who took great care of me. Only negative was that the electricity was off for a few hours due to the war but the restaurant had emergency lighting through a generator.

Kharkiv is one of the most amazing cities I've ever been to.
Kharkiv is one of the most amazing cities I've ever been to. It is seriously resilient, the people are amazing and I cannot recommend visiting there enough. It is truly a place that more people need to visit. This part of Ukraine, which deeply touched by war, continues carrying on with daily life and is so strong. The vibe here is relaxed yet a bit reserved. We had no trouble walking around the city and Air Defense does a great job getting most of the Shaheds and missiles taken down before they acn hit their targets.

These are troubling times to write a review of Kharkiv.
These are troubling times to write a review of Kharkiv. I've been here before - it's a magnificent city, and it's peripherally under attack. Much of the population has moved away - to Kyiv or beyond into Europe. That said, people still live here; commerce continues; the universities, transportation, parks, and zoo still operate even if the city is not quite herself. I can neither recommend nor discourage travel here - it's entirely up to your discretion. That said, there are very few foreign tourists to slow you down these days.
