Offering a terrace and a shared lounge, Union Street Inn in Nantucket is close to Francis Street Beach and Nantucket Whaling Museum. From the moment we walked in the front door, it felt as though we were stepping back in time. The building and soft furnishings were thoughtfully and beautifully done. Mary Ellen and Dennis, the inn keepers, made us feel so welcome and gave us a tour straight away. Breakfast was fantastic, with something yummy and different on offer each morning. The fresh cookies and treats, iced tea and coffee on offer each afternoon were homemade, and delicious. The service was outstanding, and made our visit to Nantucket, even more special. Dennis and Mary Ellen answered all of our queries thoroughly and gave wonderful suggestions and ideas of how to spend our time and where to dine or have a coffee or cocktail. We will definitely be back.

The building is near the wharf and in walking distance from the touristy area. The art they have on the wall, the wooden key card, furniture, everything in the house makes the pretty and comfortable atmosphere of this hotel. Wifi was strong Spacy room Complimentary water in the fridge The private bathroom was clean There were bedside outlets so we could charge our phones.

Definitely recommend Gail’s Tour, wonderful way to see the island and learn it’s history. Whale museum is a must, attend the presentations. Best restaurant for us was the DUNE. Born & Bread for Breakfast. So many eateries to choose from. We went in early May and no crowds. Best Lodging EVER, REGATTA INN
Loved the bikes available and rides too. Maybe offer names of beaches could visit and museums. Explain about bike routes available. 1st day complicated on bike then realized could find easier routes. Pizza next to juice bar and sit on bench on water. Lola for sushi. White Elephant Hotel restaurant!! Bike to Madaket beach and get ride back on the Wave bus.!!!!
Well, the Coffin House was a sea captains' home. You really feel the Nantucket vibe at this hotel. Right in town and the restaurant next door was great. Voted the best chowder on the island. Shopping is everywhere. From tee shirt shops to fine retail shops. We also ate at the Island Kitchen house. Another great experience. You should experience this island once in your life!
The architecture. The cobblestone streets and trees. Downtown has great shops, restaurants, The Library! I loved the Harbor, The Wave Bus and the 2 beaches I visited, Sconset and Jetties. The people! So friendly and interesting. It's a quick plane ride from NYC to a little slice of heaven.
Overpriced islet for seeing and being seen. Everything is extremely expensive. Restaurants charge a lot for average food. Hotels are very old, though clean. Some people think it is charming. It think it is boring. There are better beaches on Cape Cod and everything there is cheaper. People are over/under dressed. They wear designer clothes for the date, even if the weather is too cold for that sun dress. Women wearing high heels on cobble stones. If you like window shopping and paying Manhattan prices for everything and want to wear ridiculous jewelry on the street because you don’t have anywhere else to wear it, this is the place for you. I’m jaded because I’ve been here so many times. If you are fishing out to sea from here, it is a good place to keep your sport fishing boat. If you need a place to sail to, well, the launch is $65 RT for a couple. That’s extremely high. Martha’s Vineyard is a lot cheaper as is Chatham.
Nantucket is very clean, very old, very well maintained. It is also very expensive. I liked the Straight Wharf Fish the best because I could get more "authentic" (read "simpler") food rather than the very elaborate cuisine from other cultures.
