We usually stay at a different local hotel, but have now stayed at the Hampton Inn twice. It has a nice assortment of breakfast options, clean rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, spacious bathrooms, a coffee/tea/hot chocolate station, and friendly and helpful staff. My husband now says he prefers the Hampton Inn as our primary layover choice when driving up the east coast.

My daughter flew to Pittsburgh and our trip began with a two day stop in Lancaster before heading to Hagerstown. She was so delighted at how beautiful and well organized the visitors center was and how well staff it was with such knowledgeable individuals who are incredibly invested in their jobs as they share fascinating yet horrific stories of the loss of so many lives as mostly men fought to make the changes needed for this country to become the start of the nation that we know today. Actually seeing graves and fields so vividly described as they were transformed into mass murder scenes. We all left the area sad, yet so thankful to all of the men who fought and died for all of us. The area around the battlefields and memorials is easy to walk and full of interesting shops and beautiful scenery.

We have been visiting family in Clear Spring, Pinesburg and Big Spring for 37 years. The area is beautiful, charming buildings and homes, trips to beautiful historical places are close by. I feel like I am at home! A must stop is "Ernst Market!"

A growing city in Washington County MD with lots to see and...

A growing city in Washington County MD with lots to see and do. Especially if you're a civil war buff. There's the famous Antietam Battlefield. We actually lived there for 16 years before moving to NC in 2008. Since then it's grow so much that we we return we hardly recognize it.

It's a small, historical town located in a beautiful part of...

It's a small, historical town located in a beautiful part of the state. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant across the street from the hotel. Also stopped at the local liquor store for some wine and got to see Main Street while doing so. Very quaint. We could have been happy staying here another night but we were anxious to return home to CT.

Hagerstown is at a crossroads in Maryland, so it has plenty...

Hagerstown is at a crossroads in Maryland, so it has plenty of places to eat and shop near the interstates. The downtown has potential, but there are not too many places to grab a drink or shop, however the Maryland Theater is outstanding. The Hagerstown City Park is also a highlight. Additionally, there are several national parks close to Hagerstown, so if you are a history buff, you won't be disappointed.
