Clean! Attentive staff! Pet friendly! Definite value for the money paid compared to other hotels in the area. However, If you are looking for the most updated hotel with top notch decor this not the place for you! This feels like your parent’s family home that still sports the same decor and paint job when you left for college 20 years ago. I personally don’t mind that so I give this a high mark because it was clean with an attentive staff! I would definitely stay there again.

If stay there again. In fact, my family has stayed there multiple times. We didn't go to the breakfast so no opinion on that, but free is free. The automated booking system was very annoying. For a 1 night stay I received 7 emails and 3 texts by the time we checked out. I should have opted out.

Loved walking the campus and seeing familiar buildings as well as a lot of new ones! Still a very beautiful campus!
Enjoyed walking down Illinois St in Carbondale and reminiscing! The old DQ building is still there but the name has changed. We spoke to the owner, Mark, who’s lived there 50 years and he remembered all the places we hung out! He was a walking/living encyclopedia and it was such a joy to speak to him! He even made us a Boston Shake which we have never been able to get anywhere but there!!
He told us to try Quantros Pizza for dinner, which we did, and it was delicious all! It’s located in the same area where one of our old hangouts was, Spudnuts Donut Shop, so it was fun to go there for the memories made in the very same place many decades ago!

Marion is a pretty eventful town.
Marion is a pretty eventful town. There are plenty of things to do in the area, and definitely no shortage of restaurants. I stayed at the Drury Inn, and had a rather nice experience there. There was a slew of restaurants right in the immediate vicinity. I ate at the Applebee's across the way. Very good food, and friendly staff!

Carbondale is one of the nicer towns in Southern Illinois.
Carbondale is one of the nicer towns in Southern Illinois. It is close to Giant City Park, lakes and Southern Illinois University is south of town. I always enjoy going there, visiting the different places and enjoying the many and varied activities going on.
