The hotel was very noisy and had 3 police cars attend the property on the first night I stayed there. I was travelling for work and specifically asked for a quiet room. Management refused to talk with me.

Staff were wonderfully welcoming and you could get freshly-baked cookies and coffee in the foyer any time! Breakfast was excellent - a special mention should be made of the fresh biscuits (scones) served up every morning.

The room, though small, was very accommodating to my needs. When there was any problem with the TV, or such, the manager/owner, Pan, was very helpful. I felt very quiet and safe there. It worked out well for me while visiting my family & friends near by.

We had lived there for years and were back visiting family and friends. Traffic is terrible in the mornings till 10am heading to Santa Cruz, and pretty bad around Watsonville also. They do have a nice walking trail available not far from the hotel.

You can't beat the property and the hospitality of the owners as well. 5 stars and first class all around. I'd like to book it again, but it's a little too expensive right now during busy season so I'll likely have to wait

I went to Aptos for one night to attend an anniversary party. I have visited the area several times and never found it very appealing as it is very crowded, traffic can be horrendous, and the public beaches that are easily accessible are not very beautiful. I much prefer Monterey or Half Moon Bay or Northern California area beaches for scenic beauty. The party was held at Bittersweet Bistro in Aptos, however, which is a restaurant I do highly recommend if you go to Aptos, the food was wonderful!

Capitola offers many good restaurants, and plenty of beaches to visit.
We went to the Moss Landing slew one day to watch the numerous birds.
We ate at Cafe Cruz, and several other restaurants.
We are not exactly a young couple, so we mostly like eating good food, and gazing at the Pacific.
The weather was bright and sunny.

So much wildlife, we loved it.
So much wildlife, we loved it. The sea lions were hilarious, all piled on docks at the harbor, and it seemed like a real working town, not a fake touristy spot. And do visit the Shakespeare Society of America in Moss Landing. What a hoot! Can't really explain it but see for yourself.
We ate at Sea Harvest and the Thai restaurant near the inn, both adequate and inexpensive. I was stoked to visit Pezzini Farms and I will be ordering heritage artichokes from them this spring. Whale Watch Point right across from the harbor was fun just to chill and stare at the sea lions and so many pelicans.

Strawberry farming town 35 minutes from Santa Cruz.
We found the beach called Manresa, it was just 13 minutes from the motel.
Capitola is a cute little town with small stores and the beach not too far from it.
In Watsonville we loved eating at the Strawberry patch cafe and seating at the back outside patio.
Another great breakfast place is Yesy’s.
We recommend the Korean Restaurant in the city of Marina a few miles away.

Beautiful grounds and beach.
Beautiful grounds and beach. Fresh, clean and well decorated and appointed room. Ocean view is spectacular. We didn’t use them although the resort has 3 pools and several outdoor fire pits. Shore birds galore. Soothing sound of the surf from our patio. Warm fireplace in the room added to its appeal. Kitchen went unused although it is well appointed including glasses, tableware, and utensils. Kitchen table seats four.

Of course, we may have missed what's on offer...
Our hotel was on a busy road near shopping malls, boring chain food outlets and petrol stations, next to a noisy facility of some kind which beeps and crashes into action early in the morning. I hope there is more to Capitola, but our part was definitely NOT by the sea. If there is a better side, it's a pity the hotel didn't illustrate or explain this. If you're on business or visiting family - fine. On holiday looking for a stop by the ocean? Forget it.

Moss landing was a quiet spot along hwy 1 in CA and a good place to hub from as we explored the central coast
We liked the agricultrure, estuaries and wildlife. It let us build our understanding of the current comunity and some of it's history. This was not the typical beach tourist town.
We also found it interesting that Moss landing seemed to always have its own micro-climate that was consistetly unique from the nearby surrounding places we visited.
ONE consistent challenge was the underdeveloped hwy infrastructure compared to the demands of the amount of drivers on the road. CA 1 (Moss Landing - Santa Cruz)
Aimless slowdowns on clogged freeways caused by nothing more than more cars and not enough lanes.
Answer = Surface streets - ":( Sorry ~ No. More of the same. No escape. How do the locals cope?!?
