The location was beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely market town just five minutes drive away. The property felt modern and was spotlessly clean. The main house had good facilities and even a hot tub, barbecue and stand up paddleboards to make the most of the lakeside location. The facilities were modern and everything worked as it should. We were happy to travel to Paris and to Disneyland from here, but check distances on a map. The hosts were superb and nothing was too much trouble. They came to 'fix' the air-conditioning after I pressed the wrong button within 10 minutes of my call.

Although the town of Crecy-la-Chapelle may at first glance, seem like another forgotten village along the way to Meaux, its hidden charms are worth exploring. Crecy-la-Chapelle's location on the river Morin fostered trade, craft, and the textile industry during the Middle Ages. In the 19th-century, the town inspired many Barbizon School painters who nicknamed it " Venice in Brie." You can take a pleasant walk from the town square to the river, past the remaining mills and church. Look for the small signs that help explain the little known history of the interesting old river town.
