The guest house has family rooms. hosted by a lovely couple. also if you not speak japanese there is no problem to make things happen, super helpful and supportive. Now my second time and my go for place to stay on this beautiful island. i enjoy the tatami room, but also there is one room with a western bed. a kitchen with everything what is needed to prepare food and tea / coffee. I hope you enjoy this place like I do.

She speaks English very well, especially helpful to a solo traveler & first time visitor to Japan. She was kind enough to drive me to my nearby stay and to the bus stop.

The house had excellent facilities and is on a quiet location near the beach, cafes, train station and supermarket. It was great having the use of two bicycles also. Yumi is a great host.

The property itself was amazing! There is a lovely common space where you can cook and hang out! The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

The best place we stayed during our month-long trip around Japan. It’s a true traditional Japanese home full of character. The rooms are large and spacious, and downstairs there’s a cosy kitchen and living room. The wonderful and warm host, Barbara, took amazing care of us, and we spent a lovely evening together. She introduced us to Japanese calligraphy, as she’s a talented artist herself. This place is truly a hidden gem.

Host was responsive via booking.com messages.

Set 29 km from Totoro-kō, Le Lodge Mimitsu offers a garden, and air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi.

All units come with a terrace with mountain views, a kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave, and a private bathroom with bidet. A patio with garden views is offered in each unit. This was truly one of the best stays we had in Kyushu. The lodge was spacious and had all the amenities necessary for a pleasant stay. The service was top-notch and its close proximity to the river (where you can swim) made it even better.
