It was much better than we expected. The place was well taken care of. There was nothing to complain about. The owner was very kind. He even gave us a car and took us to our next stop. It was a great pleasure to stay here. It was very satisfying and safe. We recommend it.

The owner and the workers are really nice and helpful and the hotel is located few minutes walking from Kalkudah beach. You can also easily reach Passikudah beach by foot. I highly recommend staying here!

It’s the little touches that made it so special: the warm and attentive staff (i.e. Nif and Pathum),the delicious bites with our apero, the magical evening lighting, the beautiful art around the property, the fresh melon on the beach, the water service by the pool and beach…best of Italian 🇮🇹 cuisine (cooked by Umberto himself) and so much more. Every detail was thought through with care, and it showed. Truly unforgettable, and we’re already dreaming of coming back.

The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. Vi havde en uge på Maalu Maalu efter en uges rundrejse. Hyggeligt og luksuriøst strandhotel med hytter lige ud til stranden. Meget venligt og hjælpsomt personale, der var ekstremt service mindede. Det glæder samtlige ansatte. Vi havde halvpension og spiste buffeten. Maden var i særklasse god med stor afveksling og meget fisk. Mange gode faciliteter som morgenyoga, virkelig god massage, fitnessrum med aircondition, bordtennis, beachvolley, billard. Strandstolene blev håndteret, så alles ønsker blev opfyldt. Stranden er unik dejlig. Vi kan varmt anbefale stedet.

We were quite concerned on the way there because the trip was through some interesting but desolate terrain. What a great surprise. The property is beautiful and the staff and service were superb. The food was good too.

This place is twice as nice as the Ubay Homestay I stayed at in Trincomalee for which I paid much more - $30 per night. What's better about it, besides the lower price, is: More spacious, more modern room Fewer bugs (really hardly any) Larger, less smelly bathroom Much quieter setting. Instead of being in the middle of a bunch of other places, including a loud hostel next door, as Ubay was, this place is in a wide open, peaceful setting, the only close neighbor a church. Better breakfast at the same price - 1300 Free, filtered water A larger staff, very attentive, but unobtrusive, only there when you need them The two beaches nearby are quieter and less crowded Much thanks to Usha, the owner's wife, who speaks excellent English. She welcomed me graciously with fresh coconut water and gave me another one when I left.
