What a beautiful, traditional Japanese home with the most wonderful host, Hiro-san. He was so communicative before and during our stay, so accommodating with a great sense of humour. He went out of his way to take us to and from the stations, to dinner, etc. Special shoutout to Hiro-san’s gorgeous and gentle doggy companion, Marie-chan. And oh my gosh, the lovely bath prepared for us every evening!! If we are ever in the area, we will go out our way to stay here again. Thank you Hiro-san.

Mariko's kindness is absolutely outstanding, even for Japanese standards. She is one of the best, if not the best host we have ever had the luck to meet. She even prepared a delicious breakfast for us and drove us to the train station because we were in a bit of a hurry. The lodging is simple yet lovely, cozy, in a great location and super clean. The gentleman managing this facility is truly the ideal host. He was extremely helpful from the very beginning, providing us with suggestions on what to do. He had ready-printed instructions for each activity, which were extremely handy. Complimentary coffee, tea, and bananas are offered every morning. He even bought us sweets! Lastly, he has a small professional studio, and if you are interested, he will take and print out a picture for you for free. The location is very close to Tobu Station, where the bus hub and many rental car agencies are present. We went by bus for hiking but chose to rent a car on a rainy day. I can't recommend this place enough. One of the best experiences in Japan.

The location is stunning, nestled in nature beside a forest and stream, just a 5 min drive from Toshogu temples and Nikko’s main street. A car is recommended to explore the nearby national parks and onsens. Masayuki is a thoughtful host who looks after his guests with care. The apartment is on the top floor and it's well equipped with a private kitchen and bathroom. We especially appreciated the delicious strawberries he shared, thank you!! We hope to return and see more of this beautiful region

Lovely, clean and quiet place. Izumi was a great host. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. We had the privilege to see a mother deer with its fawn from our deck, it was spectacular. We highly recommend this beautiful stay.

Quiet scenic location. Everything walking distance. There are several restaurants near by. We didn’t have breakfast at the property so can’t comment. Lovely private onsen. First come first serve. Next to the river so can watch the river flowing by from the onsen. Kanmangafuchi Abyss starts at the hotel. Don’t miss it.

Great hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable. Spotless house, quiet location, beautiful touches to make it feel homely, an awesome bath that stays hot and fills automatically- the best bath I have ever had! Hosts had information including timetables for buses, shows at edo wonderland at their finger tips. Walking distance - 5mins to bus stop and only 10mins tops to train station. Host also took us to the train station in their private car - very friendly, polite and helpful. Loved our stay and wish we stayed longer.

Great location for visiting the shrines and temples. Quiet and cosy, old style and comforting. Free tea and coffee and use of tableware if you want to eat your own food. Friendly owner with great advice about where to visit and where to eat. Spotless shared washrooms. Great private Japanese style baths for a good soak at the end of the day. Easy access by bus from the station. I enjoyed the breakfast of toast, an egg, fruit, and coffee (not included in my room price); it was perhaps a little pricey but very convenient.
