Our stay at the guesthouse was a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, Mayuko, the host, made us feel at home and showed us around in her nice house. Our futons were already laid out in a spacious, traditional room. Later that day, at night, she took us by car to the centre of Hachinohe and introduced us to the owners of a food stall with some exquisite food. The next morning we were treated to an extensive and delicious Japanese breakfast with local delicacies. We had rented a car and Mayuko provided us with a perfect itinerary for a day trip, from the remarkable Seagull-temple, to a beautiful hike along the coastline, to the most impressive indoor foodmarket we have seen in Japan. That night Mayuko cooked us a very tasty dinner, before it was time for the highlight of our visit: a performance of traditional Japanese music and dance, performed by the host accompanied by het sister and niece. Mayuko and het sister are top level performers in the field of traditional Japanese singing and dancing. Also very interesting was the explanation of the meaning of the dance and the way their performance art is passed on through the generations. So, if you are looking for a genuine and authentic Japanese experience, visit the guesthouse!

Tototo Morioka ligger i Morioka, 2,2 km fra Morioka Station og 1 minutters gang fra House of Morioka Town. Værelserne har aircondition og et fælles badeværelse. Morioka is a nice, quiet city and Tototo is in a lovely peaceful neighborhood. Dela-san, the owner is very friendly and helpful with information about the area. The Sunday dinner and Monday morning walk were both among some of my favorite highlights of my trip to Japan so far.

GAMP HOUSE がんぷはうす 江戸農家古民家ホステル Old Folk Farm Hostel ligger i Iwaki, 18 km fra Aquamarine Fukushima, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og en restaurant samt gratis privat parkering. This was my favorite stay during my trip! Surrounded by the countryside, this 280 years old house has all the charms of its age, but still reasonably modern amenities. The staff is especially friendly, helpful, and welcoming. And you can get amazing home-cooked meals too! If you want to go out of the beaten path and explore the rural side of Japan, this is absolutely the best place!

Guest House Chara ligger i Hirosaki, 34 km fra Sannai-Maruyama site og 3,5 km fra Hirosaki Slot. Her er en have og gratis privat parkering samt gratis wi-fi overalt. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming - there was also a breakfast included (which I didn't remember getting). The house was full of history and souvenirs which I'm sure the hosts are more than happy to talk to you about. There is also "sake nights" where the hosts offered us a chance to try different sakes. There is only one shower in the facility, so there is a booking system to reserve your shower slot.

Uchi Matsushima Guesthouse ligger i Matsushima, 23 km fra Sendai City Community Support Center og 5 minutters gang fra Entsuin Temple. Dette pensionat har 1 stjerne. I really enjoyed my time. The guesthouse is very close to everything that you need. More importantly, I was very warmly received. I will be returning soon.

Minpaku Hiraizumi er et overnatningssted med en have og en terrasse der ligger i Hiraizumi, 2,3 km fra Chūson-ji, 5,5 km fra Takkoku Seikou-ji Temple og 9 km fra Ichinoseki Station. Minpaku Hiraizumi is fantastic. Location is less than 10mins from Hiraizumi station and everything in the town is within walking distance, except for Takkoku-no-iwaya for which you can try public transportation or rent a bike near the station. The house is traditional Japanese but with modern amenities super nice and very comfortable. Room is spacious with an AC, remote controlled lights and a very comfortable futon bed. The couple living there is lovely and of a rare kindness, truly embodying Japanese hospitality. When I stayed there it rained all day and they game me a lift to Takkoku-no-iwaya by car, patiently waiting for me visiting the location. They prepare an amazing homemade traditional breakfast and were nice to chat with as well, available for anything I neeced. My time there was short but I can't recommend this place enough if you're in Hiraizumi.

Petit Resort Hotel Der Barte ligger i Zao Onsen, 8 minutters gang fra Zao Skiresort. Dette overnatningssted med 3 stjerner har en have, en restaurant og en bar. Great location on mountain, food was really good, breakfast was different every day. Had dinner there as well it was nice. Rooms are small but expected.
