GREAT Location near the tropical forest preserves and the Sarapiqui River, right near the Best Chocolate Farm, where we also took a night hike, and just down the road from Aventuras del Sarapiqui (excellent whitewater rafting). It's a private house off the main road and I was worried about dogs barking as mentioned in some other reviews, but it was not a problem at all. It's a split level with two separate sleeping spaces, king bed in upstairs room and queen bed in the downstairs room, each having their own bathroom with showers. The main kitchen/dining area was great for preparing easy meals: rice and beans for dinners and fried egg sandwiches for breakfast. And best of all is our host, Maria who has been SO accommodating and friendly. We just message each other through WhatsApp (I use Google Translate to convert from her Spanish to my English). It's not a luxury hotel but instead a very artistically decorated two bedroom apartment and I highly recommend.

The unit was the size of a condo and views of the farm and volcano were beautiful. Parking was on site and safe; the property is gated. The property is well located to enjoy area activities, and it makes an excellent stopover on the way to La Fortuna. The owner is beyond generous with his time and knowledge of the area. Breakfast was homemade and brought to my door.

This "Guest House" is huge. A family of 4+ could easily move in here and live comfortably. The back decks are beautiful to just sit and watch the jungle. It is a little way down the road from the city, which means it is quiet and very laid back. I had both a breakfast and a dinner while at the guest house. Both were great portions with a lot of variety, tasty, and well worth the money. Unfortunately, my schedule and Wendy's schedule didn't align for her bird tour. There was lots of flora and fauna to explore. My personal sightings included Toucans and a Morpha butterfly. I'm willing to bet that there was a lot I missed that Wendy could have found and shared!

Cynthia truly understands how important is to feel welcome once you decide booking a place: the house is beautiful, cozy, full of warm details and the view is marvelous. We didn't have luck and it rained most of the time so we were glad that the house was so welcoming and well appointed for staying in. Definitively worth to go through these tricked ways arriving here and feeling like you're coming home. The neighbors are respectful of your privacy and it's nice to have people around just in case. You won't miss anything in Cynthia's home. So very grateful for all your kindness and care, looking forward for a next time!

KAPALIZ has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in Tigre, 2.4 km from La Selva Biological Station. There is a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. The apartment features family rooms. Honestly it was a complete apartment with everything!. It had a kitchen with oil and salt which is essential for cooking your own meals. It had a laundry room which I didn't use but it was nice to have that option. The normal size fridge and the AC was a blessing with all the heat in CR. The bathroom was excellent. There was even an office desk and a dinner table, it was perfect!. And besides all of that 4 beds and I could park the car next door. It was very comfortable to stay here, very much recommend! The area around was beautiful and so peaceful.
