Mayuko-san and her family were so kind and friendly, it really made lifelong memories for our family of four, right down to our 7 year old. The shamisen and singing performance was fantastic, and she was even able to arrange last minute Shamisen lessons with her student, which was icing on the cake. The lodge itself is comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with good atmosphere, adequate heating, comfortable futon bedding, and good facilities. The location is also great, close to Tanesashi coast and many apple and fruit farms for fruit picking.

Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!
