The experience of being in the same home as host, whose family made us feel a part of their home, was unique. His daughter and son also mingle around with the guests without inhibitions. We also participated in the qutab cooking so it was fun. We also trekked the mountain above Zaur's house and walked around in the village for hours in our short stay. Xinaliq itself is an unforgettable stay : the whole experience of it, including the drive to the village, the pitstops we took, the foggy trails, the snow clad mountains, the waterfalls en route and the cherry on top was the time with the family. Zaur's kids are awesome. We feel lucky to have seen Xinaliq while it is still relatively untouched by tourists. With hosts like Zaur, it will get more and more "touristy" - hope the charm does not wane though.

It is a homestay in Xinaliq, a remote village in Azerbaijan. Our host gave all necessary information on reaching the place, which helped a lot. They also helped us in arranging a shared transport while going back. Homestay is cosy and the room was clean. Dinner served was amazing. They nicely catered to our vegetarian needs. The hosts were amazing people with smiles. We were also surprised with Wi-Fi. It worked well!!

Incredible location - the views are out of this world Opportunity to stay with a local family, eat their delicious home cooked food and chat about life Azerbaijan (Izette’s family were very welcoming - his Dad chatted to us through google translate and his mum made us traditional breakfast). Opt to have all your meals - best cabbage soup ever! Hiking and guiding with Izette is really amazing - he arranged a jeep, kebab bbq in the mountains and a beautiful walk. I would have loved to stay longer Izette helped us with transportation to and from the village. Did I mention the views!

Very good host, he was very hospitable to us and did alot to make us feel at home. He helped us with a driver from quba(60 manats) as we were having issues with getting a fair price from a taxi coming over. He ensured the stove was always lit to keep the place warm and everything after a hike, he will serve us tea. Dinner was simple but very filling. What I liked most was that he was very honest and upfront about the costs of everything, no hidden charges/upselling

Everything here was amazing and perfect. We enjoyed Khinalig every bit with this family. Nubar the little one made the stay more pleasant. Overall this family speaks good English and Nubar’s mom cooks really well. Home cook breakfast and dinner was always yummy with the Mountain View (you get everything organic here) . Will definitely re-visit them in winter.

Its a great place to stay, with super clean rooms, very very cost effective when compared to other hotels in the area. All the activities start from here so its quite centric. The vibe of the surrounding area is awesome. Its in the middle of the mountains and always feels lively. The restaurant is also great with lovely staff and surprisingly affordable prices. Great food quality. If visiting Shahdag, dont think twice just book it.
