The house was just what we needed for a family of 8 and our cockapoo. The downstairs bedroom has a king sized bed and air conditioning with a bathroom (walk-in shower) and separate toilet which was perfect for my elderly parents. Upstairs was via quite a steep set of stairs with three more double bedrooms and another bathroom (walk-in shower) and separate toilet. Two bedrooms had air conditioning units and if we left at least one bedroom door open it cooled the other bedroom enough to make it comfortable, although there were stand alone fans. Also downstairs was the living room with dining area and another air conditioning unit - which was perfect to cool this space. A separate kitchen and utility room had everything we needed including dishwasher, washing machine, larger fridge freezer and another separate large fridge and large freezer in the garage - which was perfect to use as a drinks fridge. Outside there was an enclosed space for our dog to roam freely, with terrace and swimming pool. The pool was fresh water and excellent, there is a slight issue with the filtering system and the pool needed daily upkeep which I became an expert in pool maintenance after three weeks. With that said Nicolas (the pool man) came weekly and was always available to pop around when ever the filter needed cleaning more frequently than weekly (which it did with 8 of us). La Farlede is a small town with a few places to eat and drink, as well as take always. There were also two large supermarkets (Lidl and Intermarche) to buy groceries. We drove down and used Le Shuttle which was broken up both ways with stops 3/4 of the way between the North and South of France - which in future I probably wouldn’t bother doing…. Although it is a long way! Our parents flew into Marseille and Nice airport, although Marseille Airport was slightly easier in my opinion to get to and from… however it is 1hr 20mins each way. Overall, we had an excellent time and would happily stay again.

Hospitality by Rocco and his wife was beyond exceptional. We almost had individual service with cuisine to our taste. Food was brilliant but hospitality exceed all expectations. Rocco’s attention to detail and his wife’s smile made the stay thoroughly enjoyable. The chef is quite exceptional and at 22 years old was in the semi finals of the French Master Chef. What else can one say!!!

La Farlede was quiet and peaceful.

La Farlede was quiet and peaceful. There were quite a few places to eat and drink as well as take aways. The town has two supermarkets (Lidl and Intermarche) and is a traditional French town which was lovely. Very few British tourists (we were the only Brits there - which was perfect for us). The locals were very friendly and welcoming and didn’t laugh at us butchering our GCSE French from 30 years ago! … although they appreciated our efforts. The funniest time was when a cashier at Gifi said “what do you want” in response to my question posed in my best French. A car is a must as it is quite remote and some distance (1hr 20) from international airports of Marseille and Nice. As we drove down from Le Shuttle and the rest of our family flew, we would probably look to stay slightly closer to Nice or Marseille next time.

The B&B was exceptional. The hosts had thought of every detail. The breakfasts were delicious, with everything being home made, and even fresh figs from the garden. The room with air-conditioning was really comfortable and the hotel staff were really welcoming and so helpful.
