Our stay at the chateau couldn’t have been more perfect. The Chateau was charming and peaceful. The hosts had perfectly preserved the essence and beauty of the Chateau, it was like we had travelled back in time. While keeping the authenticity of the original place, the bathrooms had modern touches and were super clean. The beds were comfortable and the hosts were nice enough to provide a cot for our baby. The breakfast was also superb and the hosts were kind enough to arrange the breakfast outside per our request. Everything was perfect and magical. Don’t think twice before staying here.

Lamdes is a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet,...

Lamdes is a great place to stay if you want peace and quiet, with lovely flat walks through wood field and vineyard. There are some hilly areas in the vicinity, if you prefer, and you are very likely to spot deer in the morning or evening whilst walking. It is also a good base if you want to visit all four of the bigger towns/cities in the area - St jean d'Angeley, Cognac, Saintes and Angeleme. You could even fit in a day trip to Bordeaux. I haven't yet had a bad meal in this area (have stayed around Matha area for many years), so food is very good. Prices have gone up (we're nearly one on one for euros to pounds now) but you can still get a three course meal to include wine for about 13 - 15 euros, and a three course sunday lunch for about 22 euros including wine and coffee. There are plenty of vineyard excursions in the area, and the local speciallity is Pineau de Cognac, yum. All in all a great place to stay if you like the simple life, and I am definitely returning!
