It was better than we expected at every turn. Finishing with a perfect breakfast. At the very beginning we were impressed that gates opened to let out car into the car park as we drove up (with a reassuring sign to say guests would have a code to get back out). Inside there were lots of inviting seating areas round every corner. A half done jigsaw puzzle on one table. Friendly staff. Really nice room with a very big bed… and a bottle of mineral water on each side. A very pleasant bar with lots of nice nooks. Good beer. (And I noticed a nice selection of malt whiskies.) When we asked for crisps… a basket was offered with a selection of really good quality crisps. The Crown simply surpassed expectations by small increments at every turn. We had found it by luck when we needed a break for the night on a long car journey on the A1(M). And as we enjoyed our evening we kept commenting how good it was.

The Old Deanery is a fabulous, friendly and very comfortable place to stay opposite the cathedral. It was easy to find, had free parking and close to all Ripon has to offer. The breakfast was included and delicious - very different to other places. It started with tea/coffee, fresh juice or a freshly made smoothie. Then we were given granola with the creamiest of yoghurt and fresh fruit; cut meats, smoked salmon, cheeses, chutney, hummus, and a basket of freshly baked breads and pastries. This was followed by a tasting plate based on a traditional breakfast ... delicious. The vegetarian option was equally good. We will definitely return.

Boroughbridge has a lot to offer to visitors.

Boroughbridge has a lot to offer to visitors. I had no time to look around in depth but, "The Devil's Arrows", are food for thought on what went on there in pre-history! Yes, the town has a modern shopping area but the older town has great charm and a relaxed, honest, Yorkshire ambience which is better experienced than described.....try it and see for yourselves - enjoy!

I love this hotel and stay often. The staff are marvellous. A bit more updating needed for bathrooms. Some tvs too small. Mattresses not so comfy this time although very kindly was upgraddd to a bigger room.

The Crown is in the centre of Boroughbridge with private parking so felt safe and no need to drive to the shops! We were staying to visit a relative so did not have much time to explore. From what we did say we will stay twice as long in January so that we can explore more.

Boroughbridge is a lovely small market town with a lot of history. We often call in for something to eat, or to pick up a few bits of shopping from Morrisons when travelling on the A1. Fish and chips al fresco by the river is a treat!

Pleasant hotel the entrance at the back could do with a hoovering of the mat and bathroom could do with the tiles being cleaned to remove some mould.Breakfast is excellent and hotel is suitable for touring about .

Lovely public house and accommodation.

Lovely public house and accommodation. Welcoming and all staff friendly and knowledgeable in places of interest to aid travellers stays. Accommodation high quality bedroom spacious and cosy with added Yorkshire charm! Bathroom spacious and the luxury of both deep bath and shower. The location was quiet but close to lots of places of interest 10 minutes drive to Ripon Racecourse and Ripon town close by, also close to York, Knaresborough which is idyllic. Lots to do in surrounding area. Lovely pub and the meals delicious and a good variety to chose from all dietary needs available. Their full English breakfast kept us going all day til dinner time. Definitely will be returning here soon.

Fantastic stay, our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic every morning. Cooked options with quality products. Plenty of cereals, yogurt, fruit etc. The location is beautiful and rural, though there are shops and pubs etc 5-10 mins drive away in the nearby town of Boroughbridge. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. All the expected amenities available. We enjoyed walking around the farm seeing the horses and the local wildlife.
