We had a lovely weekend in North Wales, staying in a newly refurbished room at the Y Gwydyr Hotel in Dolwyddelan. Dollwyddellan is a short drive from Betws-y-Coed. Trains run between Dollwydellan and Betws-y-Coed every few hours. Y Gwyder is a great place to stay. Namthip and her team were really welcoming. We had a lovely room, it had a comfy super king-size bed (in room 4). Super powerful shower in the bathroom. Lovely bar, with fab Guinness (as well as other beers, wines etc). The bar is cozy, and the locals are friendly. Thai food produced by Namthip was fabulous and they had a traditional bar menu as well. Breakfast is not included in the price of stay. However, it can be arranged at an additional cost, we opted for a bacon sandwich, which was nice. They also have tea coffee, cakes etc available. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place / area.

The owners were very personable and we enjoyed chatting with them at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast...it was fabulous! We really enjoyed playing with Lola, the dog and Boyd, the cat. We felt we could move around the property like it was our home. We had the attic rooms and enjoyed all the extra space.

What's not to like? Old coach inn from 1660 something, steeped on history. The dinner menu was almost too extensive that we we didn't expect much of the food, but we were so wrong. Excellent food at very fair prices.

Warm, dry, and welcoming. What more do you want?

Warm, dry, and welcoming. What more do you want? Very comfortable bunk beds, lovely place, and friendly staff. Cherry on the cake: the dry room!! And the views, of course. Numerous toilets and showers, offering hot water for everyone with no waiting time.

There is not much in the way of facilities at the village...

There is not much in the way of facilities at the village itself but it is an excellent base if you are into hill walking/hiking. There is a reasonable bus service to get around and plenty of places to eat a short drive away. It is also very easy to get to other parts of Snowdonia being at the junction of two main roads.

Great location for walking, climbing. Cooking facilities or cafe/pub nearby. Clean, comfort, fab lounge and areas to relax. Outdoor fire pit and seating area. Plenty of parking if required. Good value for money. Would definitely stay again.
