Our family of four had a truly lovely stay at Claire Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owners, a kind and extremely friendly elderly couple who went out of their way to ensure we felt comfortable. They take great pride in the cottage, especially regarding cleanliness and care—it was spotless throughout. The location is fantastic, just a short distance from a beautiful beach and forest, making it ideal for peaceful walks and family outings. The cottage itself was cozy, very well maintained, and equipped with everything we could need. It felt like a true home away from home. The private garden was a real highlight—stunning and perfect for relaxing or enjoying a barbecue in the fresh air. During our stay, the tulips were in full bloom, adding to the charm. We were also touched by the thoughtful little extras, like tea, coffee, and delicious homemade biscuits waiting for us on arrival. We genuinely enjoyed every moment of our stay and were sad when it was time to leave. We would wholeheartedly recommend Claire Cottage to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and beautifully located place to stay. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

It was fantastic. The hotel, the staff, the food. Everyone was cheerful and helpful and they couldn’t do enough for us. Even put a birthday card out on our table for our family breakfast to celebrate my husbands 60th. Will recommend going to The Beach to all our friends and we will book again.

WM was our last stay on our Cornish Adventure, and we could not have asked for a better ending. WM welcomed us with open arms and provided us with flexible accommodation, great drinks and amazing food in the evening, overlooking the sea and we found ourselves drifting into the sunset with the magical view this place provides. Beds and rooms were superb. Food was plentiful and tasty, fresh Sea bass, Tennessee chicken bursting with flavor and you must try the local specialty if you can - the RIBS!!! A heartfelt thank you WM for just being who you are and giving us this experience and sanctuary after some staying-experiences which had downed our spirits a bit. Would have loved to stayed longer and use WM as a base of exploration, but maybe next time :-)

Great breakfast menu (I loved the fresh omelette), Kara is very helpful in every way, whether bus timetables or recommendations for dinner and also always good for a laugh. The bed is confi, it’s a good location near the heart of the little city and my favorite live-music pub „the Barrel“, a short walk to the beach and the coastal path, good car parking spaces nearby at the supermarket Co-Op (I payed only 6 pounds for 3 nights via the App „just park“) There are two breakfast options: at 8am and 9am. Just a remark, „Burn view“ is during the day a busy street and my room was pointing out to it, (and to the golf club and the hills behind it), some other rooms didn’t, but at night it is perfectly calm. I was out hiking during the day anyway.

From the moment we arrived Nicki the landlady was charming and attentive ,showed us to our room that far exceeded our expectations ,this is a hidden jewel and we will definitely return ,we have already recommended it to 2 friends and will continue to spread the good word . Thank you for the amazing stay. The room was spacious and clean. Surrounding gardens are well kept and so relaxing. There are nice walks near the house . Breakfast was very generous and kept us full for most of the day :)

We were actually staying Bude- not sure where this Poughill...

We were actually staying Bude- not sure where this Poughill is, perhaps just outside? Anyway Bude was beautiful. Amazing views, clean beaches, some lovely bars but it was tricky to get somewhere to eat in the evenings. Last orders are fairly early most places (not sure if this is a seasonal thing) and if you don’t book, you may struggle to get a nice place to eat. Temple was amazing for food. We’re both vegan and they catered for both of us. They do two sittings so get booked in as soon as you can! The olive tree was also really great but definitely book this! They finish serving fairly early.

Recommended, nice area, near to Bude, beaches and seaside...

Recommended, nice area, near to Bude, beaches and seaside town. Golf, restaurants, etc. The Bude site also had an outdoor pool, restuarant, bar etc, so worth staying there. Lots of hotels in the area, several supermarkets as well. Not too busy, but busy enough (early July)

I am sorry but I had no opportunity to see Poughill as I...

I am sorry but I had no opportunity to see Poughill as I would have liked. It looked lovely but the property I had booked, Stibb Down Farmhouse, made it impossible for me to stay. The owner Julie, lost the plot because I wore a Covid guideline mask in her presence when I first arrived!!!
