Everything about this little hotel is stunning - location, staff, food, rooms, beds. All the littel touches make a huge difference too like the homemade biscuits in the room. I will most certainly be back!

The Stonehouse Hotel was a sight for sore eyes, (a pleasant surprise) after walking 5 1/2 hours on the Costwold Way. We loved the hotel, the grounds and our room. We also found the staff, specifically the young man checking us in (sorry didn't catch his name), a waitress named Asuka, and the bartender Yaughtski. Hopefully we spelled that right. Lol. Yaughtski without a doubt made our stay welcoming and fun.

Fairly near to family who we were visiting. Near to a barbers we made use of and a large supermarket handy for anything I forgot to bring with me. It was lovely to stay in an English pub with Hawkstone beer to try though we preferred the special bitter. Lively menu which we felt would cover all tastes. Night one we had been out at lunchtime so just had the fish platter to share , second night we both had the steak perfectly cooked to our liking. Didn’t have dessert though they looked good when served to an adjacent table !

The town was within easy reach of the markets at Stroud and the wetlands park (Slimbridge), both worth a visit. Also a visit to the local canal was worth it. There were various eateries and the local store had some basics.
