What a magnificent time we had during our stay at Earino! The true hospitality from Nikos and his family made us feel as welcome as old friends. The cottage was delightful, the views extraordinary, and the food so very fresh, local, and representative of the region (including their own delicious wine!). We loved the place so much, we’re coming back with friends before we leave Crete to experience this magical mountain oasis again!

A bit about the property: When you walk into the house the main bedroom is connected to the living room, there is a swinging saloon style door between the living room and main bedroom which is about 3/4 height of the doorway, so if you have a family, the main bedroom with the double bed might not have the best privacy. Note that the only AC is in the living room, so it cools the main bedroom as well since the cool air comes in from the top of the doorway. The second bedroom has two single beds and is better privacy since it has a proper door, but does not have AC only a fan. There's one bathroom, a washing machine and an area outside to hang clothing. The Pros of the apartment: Location is great base to explore the wine region and the southern coast. Very spacious place for two, nice little outdoor garden area, behind a gate. Bed was nice and comfortable. WiFi speed was 35 Mb which was sufficient for video calls. AC worked well. Plenty of parking.

The place is in the middle of Agia Varvara and close to supermarkets, a bakery and restaurants. The pool ( and the hot and cold shower next to it) is a plus although the picture of it is deceiving as it is really just a very small pool. We were the only people using it so it was ok. Easy access to the keys. Close to the wonderful restaurant I Gonia.

It's a traditional Cretan Village style place that you can enjoy being a tourist. The breakfast included stuff that any local would usually eat, you do not choose but get a variety that is available this day, omelets, eggs, pies, yogurt etc. If you rent a car to move around the island and need to organize a group event of a sort - it's perfect. There is an orthodox little chappel on the territory. There is a taverna and a minimarket, treatment like you are guest at your friends house style. I personally think it's amazing for winter time, it has a fireplace in each room. A/C is also there. Wifi - only available at Reception. If you have troubles walking, think of it and prepare, as it has uphills and stone pavements. You can get iron from Reception too. Very friendly people.

This was a beautifully restored old house right in the center of Archanes, minutes from the town square. Our room was very quiet and comfortable. Every detail was perfect. Eleni and Maria were both so kind, helping us find parking and sorting thru my mistake of showing up a day late! Archanes was a lovely traditional village in the wine country. Definitely worth a visit, and carpe diem is the perfect place to stay.
