We arrived quite late (23:30) and the check in was really easy, the rooms were spacious, comfortable and quiet. The common rooms and the kitchen were clean and had everything you need for a stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Sometimes the hostel owner organizes cultural events, when we slept there we were lucky to listen to a Canadian songwriter. The atmosphere was really nice - a perfect way to end our vacation on Iceland.:)

The best hostel i have stayed in. Like I mean best ever, seriously. First of all, the bed was comfortable. The sheets were clean and they smelled very fresh. Spacious rooms with big windows and great curtains that make the room completely dark if you want it. The common area also very spaciuos, plenty of chairs and tables, have a lot of sockets to charge your phone or other devices. Very well equipped - there are two TVs, computer, dozens of board games. The same goes for the kitchen, it has everything you need, there are two microwave ovens, regular oven, two big fridges. The whole common area is decorated with beautiful pictures of Icelandic nature, it gives a place really nice vibe. On the top of all that, this hostel has the best bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a place like this. Each toilet and shower is in completely separated room with normal door, completely opposite to what I got used to in hostels.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Old School House. Honestly, part of me wants to gatekeep this place – but of course I won’t. As a half-Icelandic person, this has definitely become one of my new favorite spots to stay in the countryside. We loved the garden, which was open for everyone to use. We actually ended up staying in for both dinner and breakfast, even though we had plans to go out and eat at restaurants. But the garden was just too cozy – we couldn’t resist. We also really enjoyed the hot tub and had an amazing evening watching the sunset. The kitchen and bedrooms were super clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to Iceland. Magnea and Greg were so lovely and welcoming. You can really feel that they care and want you to have the best stay possible. 10/10, would recommend!:))

A small but cozy room with a private bathroom. A very good location, especially for watching the Northern Lights. It's about an hour of drive to Reykjavik and less than 20 to Selfoss. Eva, the host is a very friendly and open person; whenever I needed anything, I could always count on her, she also gives us a good advices about places to visit.
