Grásteinn Guesthouse is a truly beautiful home in every way. It is a special place, filled with things lovingly made by the hosts themselves. The bedding and towels are delicately embroidered, and the bath was perfect for easing the fatigue of a long journey. Every item on the breakfast table was prepared with Hildur’s heartfelt care — eating it made us happy. Even on a moonlit night, we were able to see the magnificent northern lights, and the starlight was just as breathtaking. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely Bessi and Kappi as well. This is an unforgettable dream home. We are especially grateful to Hildur for her kindness and the love she put into everything. Thank you so much.

First of all, I did not spend the night in the Cave. Because of road closures, some people had to stay one more night in the Cave. So I got upgraded to one their house by the sea, the Þórshamar guesthouse. That was hand down my BEST stay of this whole winter trip! I got the whole tiny/cute house with a terrace by the sea and a veranda, just for me! Everything was comfy, well thought, well equipped and well decorated. Fridge was filled with food for the breakfast, complimentary coffee/tea... You even have a great bluetooth loudspeaker, a TV equipped with an AppleTV, with Netflix, etc. The rooms was upstairs and the beds were extremely comfy and from high-quality brands, which was a really nice suprise. I had one of my best sleep there... Also, the owner is also very kind, she works at the gas station. I really regret not having been able to spend another night there, but I will definitely come back to that remote lovely little town!

This was one of the best places we stayed at during our round trip of Iceland. Sadly we only stayed a single night. The view in this house is indescribable beautiful. You are directly by the sea and can watch the port activities. The amenities at this place are also quite appealing. We even got some breakfast in the fridge we didn’t even expected. This was the perfect place to spend Christmas. When visiting consider traveling up north to the polar circle. We were able to sea quite a few seals and some other amazing wild life. The host is extremely nice as well and checking in is as easy as possible. Definitely worth booking this place.

Larger one of two cottages on a lovely farm opposite the sea, about 13km south of Porshofn. Very comfortable, clean and cosy. A wonderful location and view. Good little kitchen (note: no oven). Would definitely stay again.
