Our stay at Machiya Nagomi was absolutely unforgettable. The machiya-style house beautifully blends traditional charm with modern comforts, featuring two bathrooms and amazing bathtubs that were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Kyoto. The rooms are impeccably clean, cozy, and full of character, with tatami flooring, wooden interiors, and a serene private courtyard that creates a peaceful retreat. The location is excellent—quiet and charming, yet within easy reach of Kyoto’s iconic sights, restaurants, and markets and 3’ away from the famous geisha district The self check-in process was smooth and straightforward, and thoughtful touches like the tea set and amenities made the stay feel personal and special. This has been one of the best stays of our trip, and we genuinely wish we could have stayed longer. Machiya Nagomi is perfect for anyone seeking an authentic Kyoto experience with comfort, charm, and a touch of luxury.

Self check in. Nice location. The room layout is typical standard 1LDK Japanese apartment. I like the bathroom very much. The water in the bathtub can be heated though which is common in Japanese family houses, the hotel I stayed in before didn't have it. The space is also quite large compared to most hotels. No dryer but has a balcony with great view and the laundry here dries quickly.

Everything! The beds were comfy, the room was spacious and clean. The service was exceptional. There is a complimentary small breakfast with pastries every morning which was a really neat touch. The staff are very hospitable and can't do enough for you. The location is wonderful, just 15 minutes from the busy centre but the immediate area is so quiet! It's also very close to the river for morning walks.

Gionmachi is a wonderful section of Kyoto and offers much to see and experience. It is easy, maybe 15 to 20 minutes taxi to other areas of Kyoto that are also beautiful, historical and traditional. Overall, this is a place I would come back to because I have much more to see.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding.

I loved this hotel!!! The service was outstanding. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The location was perfect - close to town but not in town. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. Close to the train station as well. I will certainly stay here on my next trip to Kyoto.
