This was a really special place to have had the chance to stay in. Beautiful old building with so many original features and character (paper sliding walls, futons, tatami mats). It was a total contrast to modern identikit hotels and a great opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese wooden home whilst on the Nakasendo trail. Our pre-ordered dinner (chicken hot pot) was amazing and the simple breakfast was ready to help ourselves to in the little kitchen. Wish we could have stayed longer. The manager was so welcoming.

An incredible team of hosts that accommodated everything we could have asked for and went above and beyond. The house itself is stunning and has beautiful views over nagiso from many of the rooms, cannot recommend this place enough, the photos don't do it justice.

Exceptional beautiful renovated old house - a lovely authentic experience of Japan. Owner was most helpful providing information before our visit and arranging transport. So nice to meet the owner in the morning though we had to leave early for Nakasando walk.

Right near station and good coffee shop. Owner sent directions, easy instructions and everything clearly thought about although I couldn’t find toilet to begin with🤣
