Truly a wonderful surprise. We decided to stay here as it was reasonably near to Koyasan (about 40-50 mins drive from Okunoin) while being much more affordable than lodgings in the main Koyasan area. You can also drive to Osaka and Kansai airport from the hotel (1 hr plus). We opted for both dinner and breakfast as the hotel's location was remote. We were blown away by the food, which was extremely delicious. For dinner, we were served a sumptuous and exquisite kaiseki meal which included both traditional dishes (e.g. matsutake mushroom soup; matsutake mushroom rice; plum soba noodles; nabe hot pot) and innovative dishes (e.g. western-style cream of mushroom soup with cheese, served in a Japanese persimmon; tempura with 3 types of salt - matcha, plum, and another flavour I didn't catch). The ingredients were all of high quality and the fish dishes in particular were very fresh. We also really enjoyed the dessert (persimmon mochi and dango). The plating of the dishes was beautiful. The breakfast was also excellent. We especially enjoyed the boiled tofu with sauce, and the half-boiled egg which was cooked to perfection. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, particularly the gentleman who helped us to check in and guided us on our room and the hotel's facilities, and the serving ladies at the dining hall who patiently explained how to cook and consume the various dishes. We managed to communicate with the assistance of Google Translate and a combination of basic English & Japanese. The room was clean and fairly large for the price. The beds were comfortable and the blankets were thick and fluffy. The electronics charging station beside the beds with multiple USB ports was particularly convenient. The hotel also has an onsen which we enjoyed. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel which offered a perfect ending to our holiday in Japan.

The Minshuku is located in Chikatsuyu, which is a perfect location if you are hiking the Kumano Kodo. Whether you are taking two days from Tanabe or go all the way in one day, it is good to rest in Chikatsuyu. The Minshuku is very clean, with all the comfort of the room, kitchen and bathroom + shower. The best part is really Ike san hospitality, he can speak several languages and he is a great cook. From dinner to breakfast, including the lunch to go, everything he prepared was fully enjoyed. He is also very kind and overall interesting person to chat with. He definitely made our stay more comfortable.

Shino is the best hostess you will ever meet. The location is beautiful and her cafe is just nearby.

The friendly owners, nothing too much trouble. The location was right at the acoop great for grabbing some dinner and stocking up for the next days walk. The building had been in the family and they have refurbished it to a guest house. They left some great features from the old timber interior, incorporated furnishings to reflect themselves like the silk kimono pattern that Maha's mum made to replicate one she wore as a child and the photos of their family and dog. We would stay again. They are dedicated to making sure your stay is your favourite in japan

The host is really nice and helpfull. I recived a dinner I did not even know it is included and felt like she really cares for her guests. I was just one night here as a break on Kumano Kodo hike so for this is perfect. Maybe a bit to expensive for a solo traveler and my room had 3 beds but for a group it's like jackpot.

I love our host. She made the best meals for us! Also, the bus stop to hongu was just a 2 minute walk.

The property owner is very helpful and friendly. Good communication before the arrival. She arranged dinner and breakfast (both delicious). Also arranged luggage transport to the next destination. It all went smoothly and effortlessly. It is possible to do laundry in the cottage. This might be handy after hiking at Kumano Kodo for couple of days.

Brand new house, with all the equipments that you would want and more. The house was very clean and relaxing. Had my best night of sleep in a while! Some food was offered (e.g rice, noodles, pata etc) Check-in was super efficient. Bus is 1min away so it is super convenient to go to a town closer to Yunomine and start your hike.

Very nicely located minshuku. Perfect for a stay after the first etappe of Kohechi trail. Since there was no accomodation available in Miuraguchi, after the second part of Kohechi, they arranged transport for us from Miuraguchi and back next morning! Iyuko waited for us and helped us out since one person had an accident in the mountains. She is a phantastic person! Excellent food and bento. Nice rooms. Public bath, free transport to it. We felt at home here all of us!
