Great hotel. The room was spacious and had a small balcony, and the view was incredible! The staff went above and beyond! I received a message from them saying to let them know when we were at one of the close bus stops (one being just outside the 'cruise' station (Togendai on the norrh side of the lake) and they would pick us up. Not only that but they offer to drive you to a local restaurant at 6:30pm and convenience store at 7:30pm at nights - as well as to the close bus stops after you check out. Absolutely incredible service! Great experience here, definitely recommend! The reason I mentioned the drive offers is because the location of the hotel itself is quite a walk (all up hill) from the local "hub"/transport stops. So not something "I didn't like' per se but just a heads up for you before you arrive.

Everything. What a great surprise. The staff was very helpful and kind. The facilities were amazing, one of the best places I’ve stayed in Japan. Hakone was amazing and this hotel made my experience better. The library and all the spaces inside were perfect. Free drinks and snacks are a plus ❤️

Loved our stay here! It had everything we needed and more: • Large room with 2 comfortable double beds • Projector, with Netflix, Prime etc. (note you’ll have to sign in if you have an account) • Kitchenette • washing machine/dryer • Dining room • Balcony with foot spa • And the best bits, Sauna and Private indoor onsen bath in the room (with Mountain View - not Mt Fuji but it was still nice being surrounded by greenery after our city trips) They even provided us with some snacks and drinks in the fridge which was a lovely touch! We got the J bus from Odawara (I think it said approx 30 mins but with traffic took a bit longer!) The bus stop pretty much stops 100m from the hotel. There’s a bus stop across the road that takes you back towards Hakone/Odawara. There’s Kowakudani Station 5 mins walk from the hotel (which will take you to Hakone and Odawara too) We recommend going to Hakone Picnic, Taiwanese restaurant for food. The food and service was great, and it had incredible views of the mountain, again 5 mins walk from the hotel. A little further up the hill maybe another 5 mins is a 7 eleven. Despite not having a reception, check in was fairly straightforward (this can be done in your room) and queries were quickly answered and resolved through a FaceTime call (using their iPad). Note: details for access and your room is provided prior to your stay via email/booking.com messages. I’d definitely stay in a Rakuten hotel again!

The room was really good. There was a nice view. The private onsen was a first time thing for me. It was a really good experience! I had the occasion to eat there too at night. The taste and quality were outstanding. The staff was also really professional and lovely.
