Stopped here for the night after a long and tiring day's bike riding in the mountains. Lovely little basic log cabin by a gurgling stream. Two bunk beds, a sink and an enclosed toilet outside on the verandah. As there are no restaurants or shops nearby, the kind and chatty receptionist, who speaks very good English, went to great lengths to get me a microwaveable curry and rice for my dinner and made me a bento style breakfast, so I could make an early start in the morning. Above and beyond!

We absolutely LOVED everything about our stay at Miho's house. We regret not staying longer...... but I'm sure her house would be booked out! We were made to feel at home, everything was perfect, we were comfortable + it truly felt like a home away from home staying with family. We would love to visit again! Do yourself a favour + include the dinner + breakfast - Miho's freshly prepared food is nutritious + tasty. I actually cannot speak high enough of our experience here. We will miss Miho + her daughter Hanna! My boys + husband loved their stay too. So much fun. Miho also gave wonderdul recommendations for restaurants + local gems we would never have known about. My daughter and I stayed at Daisuke's place in Shimanto on our recent Japan holiday. It has been the highlight of our trip. Despite being told by the host to not go on the 439 road we unfortunately didn't notice that's exactly where Google was taking us and had a very scary 30min. The futons were the most comfortable beds so far, and there was plenty of space. Dinner provided and made by the host was delicious and fresh with a surprise seafood platter by his friend. After a day making knives at a local workshop we returned to join Daisuke for dinner at good friends. They were some of the loveliest and liveliest people we have met, amazing food and amazing company all night. Overall, we are definitely going to be returning!
