Lovely small town in a spectacular setting by the Buller River, surrounded by high hills.
Good little supermarket and library.
The Lazy Cow has a pizza restaurant.
Excellent Skyline walk with superb views of the town, river and hills.

Friendly & nice staff in shops.
Cool antiques shops to check out.
Lady at museum very nice and knowledgeable about the area, gives good guidance.

Fantastic location, great opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy time with family away from normal hustle and bustle of life. Loved the slower pace and wood burning fire in the evening. Great winter hide-away haven!

What a brilliant place to stay, can't fault it and can't...
What a brilliant place to stay, can't fault it and can't praise it highly enough. The building was beautiful, the room and bed really comfortable and cooking facilities excellent. Phillip and Daphne were really welcoming and helpful and the breakfast early in the morning was superb. I'd highly recommend Murchison Lodge to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Absolutely loved the place.
Absolutely loved the place. The lodge had a great walkway down to the river. Everything was just fabulous from chocolate brownies in the room to friendly people. We played in the Open Murchison golf tournament, which is always well organised and the food yummy. Swimming in the river was a highlight on both days. Great swingbridge, 10km out of town. Fantastic.

Usually we pass through Murchison, but this time we made it a stopover for a night. We loved this place. It is in a very picturesque valley, in a lovely warm microclimate, with kayaking and hiking on the doorstep. The nearby swingbridge and cometline were a must. Great pizza from the Cow Shed! We could easily spend more time exploring the surrounds, with a base of the fabulous Murchison Lodge.

Hospitality; rustic homely log cabin feel with fire place; honesty box approach to available alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; home-made breakfast by the host with an abundance touch; privacy respected and spacious rooms with very comfortable bed; tasteful furnishing with a ‘play station’ of board and card games to occupy on cold wet winter nights. This would always be our preferred stay in Murchison. Can’t wait to be back Philip and Daphne!

Modern, secure, new motel with everything you need for your stay. Very comfortable bed and great shower. Set off the street so no traffic noise from trucks/cars passing through Murchison. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Unfortunately it rained for the length of my stay so I didn't get a chance to enjoy the courtyard outside. Very handy to local FourSquare mini supermarket.

Our cabin had it's own little backgarden which was often visited by a beautiful, very friendly cat
Plenty of songbirds in the garden
A much needed AC that helped us survive that Murchison summer heat
Kitchen has plenty to work with to cook
Cabin actually seems bigger than it looks from the outside!

Back from the street. Quiet. Lovely garden view. Only 3 units so peaceful. Right in centre of murchison and an easy quick walk to the cowshed cafe for a fantastic dinner.
Room well equipped and spotlessly clean.
