Fantastic location, amazing views ! Birds singing all day ;) The hotel once was a school, now it is full of old time items and stories. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant serves tasteful and diverse breakfasts. The hotel is placed within valley, providing a great base for trips all around the island. We definitely recommend this place.

I liked a lot about the accommodation. It was new, so clean that it almost felt wrong to use stuff, good location, comfortable interior and facilities. Compared to other accommodations in Portugal this is well above average. Friendly host/owner who is responding quickly, super friendly and speaks English very well!

Classy guesthouse located in a in a beautiful rich garden full of exotic colorfull plants. We enjoyed lazy moments in the garden using garden furniture. Sadly it was too cold for us to use the pool. The hotel is only few minutes away from the coast with a promenade and some good seafood restaurants. it was a lovely touch to find a tray with local goodies in the room upon arrival. We also enjoyed the lounge with fireplace and comfy sofas. We would definatelly come back!

What we loved: • picturesque location

What we loved: • picturesque location • peaceful and quiet environment • easy street parking in front of the house, despite the description stating 'private parking.' What could be improved: • the furnishings in the apartment were quite old and shabby (except for the kitchen worktop). While I appreciate the charm of vintage decor, the state of the furniture felt more rundown, and it did not resemble 'expensive antique traditional Madeiran furniture.' • the mattresses were short (1.83m x 1.33m) and uncomfortable for taller guests. • the pots and frying pans had peeling Teflon surfaces, making them unsafe to use. • no salt or pepper provided; only a few lumps of sugar, insufficient for a week-long stay • confusing hand-written messages (‘NOT FIRE’) above electrical sockets, rather than clear signage. • mold present on bathroom tiles, which was both unsightly and concerning for hygiene. Overall, while the location was the standout feature of our stay, the numerous issues with the accommodation left us disappointed. I hope the host considers addressing these concerns for future guests.

Restorative and private nature retreat!

Restorative and private nature retreat! Liked · I hesitate a bit to write this review...because this is a secret that I want to keep to myself! Terrabona Nature and Vineyards is a wellness retreat for your soul. This family run vineyard pays close attention to every last detail and if it is free, book it now, you won't regret it. There are only 4 villas on the property in modern designed homes that cut into the mountainside, with views of the vineyard, the mountains, and a crashing dramatic seascape. You have immense privacy, never competing for a comfortable spot in the sun, by the pool, or in the gorgeous Finnish sauna that looks out at the sea and mountain sides. Each morning a selection of fresh baked breads are delivered to you and a well stocked fridge is refreshed every day with farm fresh eggs, cheese, homemade jams, fruit, meats, and more. The breakfast is so extensive, it is perfect for picnics, and will keep you full for your adventuring. The space is quiet and restorative - the beds being absolutely exquisite with natural linens and a selection of pillows. All appliances and cookware are there for your use, as well as a small pantry of items like rice, pasta, olive oil, etc. at no extra cost. You just simply feel well looked after, well cared for here. High end places often charge you for every little thing -not here. Their generosity shines through in how Marco and Maria care for their guests. They are helpful, generous, and friendly. Several small events take place during the week, from a home cooked Portuguese meal (paired with wines from the vineyard) enjoyed with other guests at the vineyard, yoga mornings, and massages that can be arranged. Attentive yet laid back staff are willing to help you with whatever you need and add to a cozy feel. This is the perfect retreat, you make it what you want and what you need. There is a feeling of exclusivity along with comfort and humble friendship in this place.

It is a lovely retreat of a place, to get away from the hustle & bustle of the city life and a great place to explore the north coast of the island. Also, not that far from access to the National Park.
