The location is excellent. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the beach. The beach (sand) is clean, the ocean is warm, there are many cafes and restaurants on the embankment. Various shops and small supermarkets. If you are driving your own car, there is a designated parking space. The apartment has everything you need for living.

Cabanas is generally low-key and low-rise.

Cabanas is generally low-key and low-rise. It's got lots of restaurants, some very good, and the waterfront boardwalk which extends the length of the main urban area is lined with restaurants, bars and some modest shops. Don't go for latenight carousing or nightclubs, but the area is very attractive in a gentle way. It's become much busier than it used to be, and there is still quite a lot of holiday accommodation under construction. There's a large but unobtrusive campsite tucked away a kilometer or so from the waterfront, seems to do good overwintering trade with northern EU sunbirds. Difficult to give specific recommendations for restaurants etc as tastes and chefs vary. I'd say it's best for older couples, those wanting to explore the many delights of the Eastern Algarve and the south-west tip of Spain (which is 20 minutes away over the suspension bridge at Castro Marim), families with younger children (probably not teenagers!)

It’s just a lovely town, it’s not too big and you can walk...

It’s just a lovely town, it’s not too big and you can walk your way around it, The train station is only a 15-20 minute walk to the apartments and hotels. The beach is something special, reached by a small motorboat or you can used the beach at one end which is just by the hotels or the pebble beach at the other up towards the fort. There is a long wooded board-walk which takes you from the smaller beach to the pebble beach depending on your Preferences and there are plenty of benches as you walk along. There are every kind of restaurant you can possibly want, plenty of shops and supermarkets to keep you busy. It’s easy to fly in and use the train to get there or you can drive there depending on your preferences. The Fort, once you see it you will want to stay. The fish and steak restaurants were our choice but there are Indian, Irish, and local dishes as well.

We tried quite a few of the restaurants and cafes that the area had to offer. The hot stone restaurant is fab but the portion's are huge! The kids portions are adult sized. There is a board walk to walk along and seats with shaded over them. Very handy to sit and watch the world and the boats go by!

It´s a small place but pleasant.

It´s a small place but pleasant. Lots of restaurants waterfront. Went to Coral restaurant a few times, we loved it, and the Royal Tandoori indian restaurant and for tradicional portuguese went to Europa restaurant. Good experiences everywhere. A great gelato place called Delizia, right on the waterfront. A small carrousel for children open at night. Beach on the other side of the waterfront, reachable by a very short boat trip. Some boat trips for sightseeing and nature lovers are available by the waterfront.

Stayed many times in Cabanas. Nice, quiet and relaxing area. Taxi boats over to the Island beach return for 3 euro for 2 people. Love visiting our friend Alex in the Anchor bar, always friendly and helpful, great playlist. We like to eat in Saboras restaurant great fish dishes, friendly staff. Great outdoor pizza restaurant. Easy walking. Did a few runs from Cabanas into Tavira 5/6 km.

Like the location.

Like the location. I had a car, but spoke with others who went places by train. The station is practically around the corner from where I stayed and goes both ways through the Algarve for very small fee. There is a wonderful boardwalk along the marina area from where one can take the boat to the Island and beach. Unfortunately the boats weren't running at this time of year, especially as the weather was not great. I was there in January. The beaches of Monta Rota and Cacela Velha were wonderful.

The breakfast was very good had excellent choice something for everyone very well laid out. The location was excellent The rooms are very good very clean the hotel was very well laid out you didn't have to walk to far to any of the bars or the eating area's the pool was excellent had slopes going into the pool and jacuzzi areas all round the pool with lovely islands around and the the girls that did the exercises twice a day were brilliant got everyone enjoying the moves

Fantastic hotel. Absolutely beautiful, so relaxing and comfortable. I loved the architecture / decoration. Homemade breakfast was huge and delicious! Aside from the eggs you don't really get to choose, they just bring everything they have for the day on the table! Dinner was also tasty and very generous. A very homely (but elevated) stay. Wifi was very good.

Really great stay here Golden Club is great even when it rains as there is an indoor poor and a bar restaurant over looking the Ria Formosa. Cabanas is lovely with many restaurants and cafes to choose from Walk or bike to Tavira or Cacela Velha or beyond. Or the charming ferry to the beach Relaxing in the nature of Ria Formosa
