Everything was just perfect, this hotel takes care of every detail to make your stay unforgettable. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are spacious, clean and so quiet. The food is delicious and varied (with child menu). Finally, the natural swimming pool is breathtaking, the best I have ever been so far. We are so happy to hace found such a nice place, we will repeat for sure.

I was lucky to find one last room for 2 nights (even when booking two months in advance!) – we would have gladly stayed longer! A magical place – just about 15 minutes by car from Funchal, but the change of scenery is incredible! The hotel looks majestic, surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, and the evening mist adds a mysterious touch. The Monte Palace is right at the foot of the famous Monte Palace– it almost feels like the hotel is part of it! Our room was very nice (though the bathroom could use a bit of modernizing), and everything was spotless. Breakfast was very good – not a huge selection, but it was absolutely fine! The welcome glass of champagne at the bar was a lovely detail. The style and decor throughout the common areas of the hotel were also exceptional! Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at on the island, this one was our favorite – it’s the one I’ll be recommending to my friends and family!

Everything was just perfect. If coming back to Madeira, surely will come back to this hotel! On breakfast you could have whatever you desire. Mixed eggs, fresh fruits, salats, sweet pastry, pancakes, musli and yoghurt - just love it here! It was possible to sit outside but also inside in the restaurant. The room was very modern and nice. I really appreciate the bin divided in three parts - separation of plastic, paper and general waste. The beds were comfy. From the balcony we had an amazing view into garden with the ocean in the end.

if you like being somewhere rural and out of the way and...

if you like being somewhere rural and out of the way and quiet then it is a good place to stay. there only appeared to be 3 staff on duty at any one time. probably the best massage in the spa i have had. the pool is small but adequate and we never found it busy. if you are expecting a nice view from your bedroom, you won;t get it and the weather is colder than down on the coast!!!!

2nd time we stayed here, first time the weather was great everywhere, this time as the hotel is up in the mountains the weather was worse at the hotel then on other location on the island It's a great spot if you want to avoid crowded places and are there for the hiking experience If you want to go to the beaches and city its not recommended

Santo da Serra is a quiet region with a village, perfect for...

Santo da Serra is a quiet region with a village, perfect for exploring the mountains and nature. There is a garden with a lot of trees, some animals and places to have a picnic or simply relax in the woods. There are also churches and restaurants with very good local food. If you enjoy playing golf, then the Santo da Serra Golf Course is one of the most beautiful I've seen, with its breath-taking scenery. There is also at least one pharmacy and mini-market near the church, along with a children's public playground (with slides, swings, and other toys for small children to enjoy). You are also only a few minutes (by car) away from the Santa Cruz aquapark, the Airport and Porto da Cruz.

A small cozy town among the mountains.

A small cozy town among the mountains. We came here on the way back from Porto Moniz. We felt the local flavor here more than in other tourist cities in Madeira. We liked it here! In the center of the city in front of the church a man bakes a very tasty bread - we advise you to buy this bread!

We chose not to stay. I think if the sun had been shining and we hadn’t had such an awful time finding the property we may have stayed. However, by the time we arrived and after a disgruntled conversation with the owner about finding the key, the weather was so miserable, the humidity was uncomfortable, the mosquitos were out in their hordes and everything felt dark and dismal and the cabin smelt damp. So we opted to book somewhere more fun and accessible for our last night in Madeira.

Madeira had a storm and we could not land due to the high winds. Beatriz was very helpful and offered a change of dates, so we didn’t lose our money. This was not expected but was totally appreciated. They deserve 10 for their hospitality and positive attitude. Beatriz - your gesture was appreciated and we will see you on our next visit.

Breakfast was good and choice was very acceptable. Pool was clean and so was the sauna. Rooms were comfortable although the bathroom was a bit dated. Location was ok although not much to do around the hotel and not much grounds.
