I was a little nervous after reading the mixed reviews but I absolutely loved my stay here. The rooms are big, comfy and spacious, the staff is super friendly, the beach across the street is great - not many people there, the location is great and wifi worked perfectly! Tons of tuktuks nearby to take you anywhere if needed.

Oy did a sensational job in arranging all of our accommodations including our hotel stay, hotel to airport transportation and especially our elephant experience. staff were great, pool was lovely, rooms were large basic and clean, shower area was good and bed comfortable, transport is needed to get to the best Thai food restaurant in the area 400m past the lotus supermarket on left called "The Old Maikow restaurant" which hotel can arrange for you. please read what i didn't like for details on distance and transport. Disliked · for travellers over a certain age who are not as spritely as they once were 20 years ago the distance to beach was a 350m walk with no cheap restaurants, to the nearest 7-11 and cheaper restaurants and street food was 400m, the nearest lotus supermarket another 7-11 was a further 400m, so if your like us(old) the hotel would call a local "samlor" (tuk tuk) who would transport you anywhere, or you could use the free hotel bicycle if your Lance Armstrong lol, remember the heat factor too. we were told that there were plans for a breakfast area for the future, and although there was a fridge in reception for the purchase of cold drinks they did not have any snacks or pot noodle style food available, which would have been handy. would we stay here again ? we would, as much as we needed transport to reach the shops etc as my wife is Thai it was easier for us to call transport direct than rely on the hotel every time. the large room could do with a bigger tv as it was only furnished with a tiny one.

The beach itself is very steep, dirty, and a bit scary when tide is high. I did find the ruins of hotels from the 2004 tsunami historically interesting but probably rather creepy for many travelers. Leave the beach to the swarms of Russians.

We came to get away form Patong Town for the final days of our trip, so the location was not a problem for us as we were also close to the airport. We recommend a visit to Baan Ar-Joor - the food is lovely and the history is interesting.

Mai Khao Beach is amazing, one of the best on the island but...

Mai Khao Beach is amazing, one of the best on the island but there is little in the vicinity to do. It's a long way from the main resorts which some may prefer. Its 10 minutes to the airport so perfect for a 1 night stay before flying home but personally I think its not for those wishing to stay a week or more unless you hire a car / moped.

Loved the location of Mai Khao!

Loved the location of Mai Khao! The resort pools and beach itself were amazing and not overly crowded. Watching the planes land over the beach was fascinating and made for awesome photos! There were plenty of local eateries outside of the resort and plenty of places for massages, facials, pedicures etc... The stalls down at the beach had fabulous food and drinks for $5 AUD and under and the variety was excellent! And no upset bellies!! It was easy to hail a tuk tuk when it got too hot to walk further distances as they were everywhere. One of our friends hadn't been to Thailand before so we took a day trip into Patong which took an hour and a half. We thought she should see Bangla Rd at least once! Was glad to get back to the peace and tranquility of Mai Khao though!!

This place was one I will keep coming back to. The room exceeded my expectations. I was happy to see there was a couch with an extra sitting room outside the main bedroom area. This was very helpful. The food in the restaurant has a good variety of options and it was the best curry I had the whole vacation. The hosts were so kind and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is our second time staying in this resort. The staff are nice and patient. The buffet breakfast and the room service are nice. But only the beach side restaurant opened at lunch and dinner at this time. Hope more options could be chosen later. The beach is aside the hotel. Our villa walking to the beach is just within 1 minute. We can also see the sunset in our 2/F bedroom. The bedroom villa is wonderful. It looks like newly renovated. It's clean and comfortable. We would love to stay again in the future.

We had such a wonderful stay at this Airbnb in Phuket! 🌴 The location is excellent – tucked away enough to feel private and relaxing, yet still within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and everything you need. It was so convenient not having to rely on transport all the time. The interior of the property is beautifully done with thoughtful design and high-quality fittings throughout. The villa, comfort, facilities, location, staff, cleanliness- everything was 100% We are vegan and they accommodated us really well, but all diets are so well catered for as it’s a five star chef that cooks the food . I’ll recommend this place to everyone who’s going to Phuket

The welcome from our host on the day. Quiet unit. Everything was in working order, including the air-conditioning. 10-15 minute walk to the beach, so not ideal for those who don't walk. You can bike though. Good food options - dine out or self cater. Great location in general for this end of Phuket. Close to the international airport.
