The hotel was very clean, modern, and unique! Even though there is no reception, the communication with the hotel was seamless. I received my door code via email at the time I was expected to arrive, and from there, everything went very smooth. The room was small but had everything you need and was very modern and clean. Bed was comfy, lots of pillows. Great selection of TV channels. The fully stocked kitchen was awesome, and lounge area with games was a nice touch. It's like a micro-hotel/ hostel feel, but very quiet and private.

The wine offering in the afternoon was fun. Breakfast was nice. I like having breakfast at the hotel. We had a room with a bedroom and separate seating area which we really liked. We were able to rest in the afternoon without having to just sit on the bed.

It was completely by chance that I decided to stay for a night in Astoria. It seemed to be in a good location on my way from Portland via the coast to Seattle. I did not know that Astoria was such a cute, unusual town and the hotel fit right in. Built like almost all of the still existing older buildings in town after the fire of 1925...despite having been boarded up for quite awhile, the owners and the ones before them took a lot of care in preserving as much of the original stuff as possible and to retain the character of the place. The room was very comfy and clean and even had an old pencil sharpener (hilarious, surprising piece of nostalgia) mounted on the wall - just as in my school days of the 70s. The hotel cafe/bar was great, too (owned and run by the same people). The evening I stayed they had a free, "round robin style" concert with three singer/songwriters from Austin, Seattle and Portland. Each played two songs and then the next artist was on. The owners and manager take great pride in the place and it was a great short stay. Small, local businesses like these should be supported - so go to the Commodore Hotel in Astoria!

The hotel was very clean, modern, and unique! Even though there is no reception, the communication with the hotel was seamless. It was completely by chance that I decided to stay for a night in Astoria. It seemed to be in a good location on my way from Portland via the coast to Seattle. I did not know that Astoria was such a cute, unusual town and the hotel fit right in. Built like almost all of the still existing older buildings in town after the fire of 1925...despite having been boarded up for quite awhile, the owners and the ones before them took a lot of care in preserving as much of the original stuff as possible and to retain the character of the place. The room was very comfy and clean and even had an old pencil sharpener (hilarious, surprising piece of nostalgia) mounted on the wall - just as in my school days of the 70s. The hotel cafe/bar was great, too (owned and run by the same people). The evening I stayed they had a free, "round robin style" concert with three singer/songwriters from Austin, Seattle and Portland. Each played two songs and then the next artist was on. The owners and manager take great pride in the place and it was a great short stay. Small, local businesses like these should be supported - so go to the Commodore Hotel in Astoria!
