We did not have a car but it was easy to get around by foot or bus. Taking the bus to Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe and walking back to Heiligenblut from there, as well as going with the cable car up to the Schareck summit and walking the Geotrail there was fantastic.

After exploring Zell am See and riding along the alpine lake, we’re now heading towards Grossglockner — but we’ll definitely be happy to return someday. You can tell the owner really cares about the space. Very thoughtful touches. My favorite room was the library, with always cool music and its comfortable purple velvet sofas. My daughter and I read our books there before breakfast and dinner.
