And there are many restaurants and markets nearby, it’s easy to get meals and buy some daily necessities. The house is a single story colonial style ranch with beautiful garden. It is meticulously maintained by the owner. We even spotted some peacocks and lizards in the garden. The owner is SUPER nice and friendly. He spoke fluent English and introduced us every facilities how to use in the room after we checked in. He offered us free drinking water everyday. What moved us most was that after we had already checked out the homestay to catch our train, the host himself came to the railway station to see us off. He even tried his best to help us find a seat on the train, to make sure we could sit comfortably all the way to Colombo.

They had a good parking area for our rented tuktuk. The room was great but what really stood out was the rooftop patio. It was nice seating up there for sunset. The family were very kind. Good location with everything in walking distance. It was quiet at night. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless!

It is a three minute walk to the Unawatuna Beach and a 15 minute drive away from the historic 16th - 17th century Galle Fort. perfect location. very comfortable bed and peaceful sleep. decorated beautifully. food and drinks were amazing and staff were very helpful. thank you…will definitely be back!

Sri Lankan architectural master piece Dunes Unawatuna hotel is an eco friendly boutique hotel near the beautiful Unawatuna beach(100 meters/ 5min walk away).

Dunes has 10 garden-view ac rooms and a 2 bed room ac cottage in its peaceful and tranquil setting. We stayed at the hotel, in room 12, for 5 days in November 2025. The hotel is wonderful—a quiet oasis on a busy street, with everything nearby, including shops, cafes, and massage parlors. The beach is a 5-minute walk away. The hotel staff is extremely friendly, the room is authentic, there is a lot of greenery around, everything works, the plumbing is new, the beds are comfortable, and there are no mosquitoes. We will be sure to come back again!
